Objective: The aim of this study was to examine how depressive symptoms change in midlife and across the menopause transition.

Methods: We conducted a secondary analysis of data from a prospective population-based cohort, the Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults study. We included women (n = 2,160) with ≥3 responses to the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D) beginning at examination year 5, at approximately 30 years of age, and again at years 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35 (ages 35 through 60 years).

Purpose: To investigate the feasibility and accuracy of 3-dimensional (3D) iPhone scans using commercially available applications compared with computed tomography (CT) for mapping chondral surface topography of the knee.

Methods: Ten cadaveric dysplastic trochleae, 16 patellae, and 24 distal femoral condyles (DFCs) underwent CT scans and 3D scans using 3 separate optical scanning applications on an iPhone X. The 3D surface models were compared by measuring surface-to-surface least distance distribution of overlapped models using a validated 3D-3D registration volume merge method.

Background: While the biomechanical properties of the native medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) have been well studied, there is no comprehensive summary of the biomechanics of MPFL reconstruction (MPFLR). An accurate understanding of the kinematic properties and functional behavior of current techniques used in MPFLR is imperative to restoring native biomechanics and improving outcomes.

Background: The indirect head of the rectus femoris (IHRF) tendon has been used as an autograft for segmental labral reconstruction. However, the biomechanical properties and anatomic characteristics of the IHRF, as they relate to surgical applications, have yet to be investigated.

Purpose: To (1) quantitatively and qualitatively describe the anatomy of IHRF and its relationship with surrounding arthroscopically relevant landmarks; (2) detail radiographic findings pertinent to IHRF; (3) biomechanically assess segmental labral reconstruction with IHRF, including restoration of the suction seal and contact pressures in comparison with iliotibial band (ITB) reconstruction; and (4) assess potential donor-site morbidity caused by graft harvesting.

Background: Optimal soft-tissue management in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) may reduce symptomatic instability. We hypothesized that TKA outcomes using a computer-assisted dynamic ligament balancer that acquires medial and lateral gap sizes throughout the motion arc would show improved Knee Society Scores (KSS) compared to TKAs done with a traditional tensioner at 0 and 90°. We also sought to quantify the degree to which the planned femoral rotation chosen to optimize medio-lateral balance throughout the arc of motion deviated from the femoral rotation needed to achieve a rectangular flexion gap at 90° alone.

Purpose: To describe the capacity for concentration of a single processing machine for bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) production and investigate the effects of demographic factors on the number of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) in BMAC.

Methods: Patients enrolled in our institution's randomized control trials involving BMAC who had complete BMAC flow cytometry data were included. Multipotent MSC phenotype, defined as cell-surface coexpression of specific-identifying antigens (≥95% positive) and the absence of hematopoietic lineage markers (≤2% positive), was determined for both patient bone marrow aspirate (BMA) and BMAC samples.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of combined patellofemoral arthroplasty (PFA) and medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction in patients with patellofemoral arthritis in the setting of concomitant patellar instability. Patients who underwent single-stage, combined PFA and MPFL reconstruction by a single surgeon at a tertiary-care orthopaedic center between 2016 and 2021 were identified. Purpose: To (1) prospectively characterize the incidence of decision regret among women considering planned oocyte cryopreservation (planned OC), comparing those who pursued treatment vs those who did not freeze eggs, and (2) to identify baseline predictors for future decision regret.

Methods: A total of 173 women seen in consultation for planned OC were followed prospectively. Surveys were administered at (1) baseline (< 1 week after initial consultation) and (2) follow-up, 6 months after planned OC among participants who froze eggs or 6 months following consultation in the absence of further communication to pursue treatment.

In 1985 to 1986, the CARDIA (Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults) study enrolled 5115 Black or White participants, including 2788 women, aged 18 to 30 years. Over the following 35 years, the CARDIA study amassed extensive longitudinal data on women's reproductive milestones, spanning menarche to menopause. Although not initially conceived as a study of women's health, >75 CARDIA study publications address relationships between reproductive factors and events with cardiovascular and metabolic risk factors, subclinical and clinical cardiovascular disease, and social determinants of health.

Background: The importance of maintaining lateral patellar stabilizing structures has been demonstrated by the presence of iatrogenic medial patellar instability after lateral retinacular release (LRR) procedures. In patients with medial patellar instability, lateral patellofemoral ligament (LPFL) reconstruction has been clinically shown to restore patellar stability while improving patient-reported outcomes. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare failure rates and patient-reported outcomes between transosseus (TO) suture and suture anchor (SA) quadriceps tendon repairs.

Methods: Following institutional review board approval, patients who underwent primary repair for quadriceps tendon rupture with TO or SA techniques between January 2009 and August 2018 were identified from an institutional database and retrospectively reviewed. Patients were contacted for satisfaction (1-10 scale), current function (0-100 scale), failure (retear), and revision surgeries; International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) score and Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcomes Score (KOOS) were also collected to achieve a minimum of 2-year follow-up.
