Article Synopsis
  • New copper (Cu) nanodots, called Cu(II)NDs@CFG, were created using the biopolymeric polysaccharide galactomannan in a sustainable one-step process.
  • These nanocatalysts were extensively characterized through various techniques, showcasing their innovative use of galactomannan as a template for the Cu nanodots.
  • The Cu(II)NDs@CFG showed promise as a nanocatalyst for efficient and eco-friendly synthesis of dihydropyrimidinones/thiones, avoiding toxic solvents and expensive catalysts while enhancing yield and reducing reaction time.

In this study, we have first time investigated the synthesis of copper nanocatalyst by using biopolymer galactomannan, naturally extracted from Cassia fistula pods. The methodology involved for the preparation of copper nanocatalyst is economical, efficient, environment friendly, and did not involve further processing for stabilization or reduction of copper nanoparticles. The morphology and structural characterization of the nanocatalyst was performed by using different techniques such as FT-IR, H NMR, SEM, EDX, HR-TEM, XRD, XPS, ICP-MS, BET, and TGA analysis.
