Transabdominal ultrasound (US) and magnetic resonance enterography (MRE) are used to assess disease activity and extent in IBD, but their impact on therapeutic decisions is unclear. Therefore, our study has two goals: to compare the usefulness of US and MRE in assessing disease extent and activity in the small and large bowel, and to determine the relevance for clinical decisions in IBD. We included 54 IBD patients who had undergone both MRE and US within three months.

Removal of the redox-regulated isoform of Rubisco activase, Rca-α, enhances photosynthetic induction in Arabidopsis and has been suggested as a strategy for the improvement of crops, which may experience frequent light transitions in the field; however, this has never been tested in a crop species. Therefore, we used RNAi to reduce the Rca-α content of soybean (Glycine max cv.

For this study, self-prepared samples spiked with CBD in hemp seed oil as well as commercial CBD oils from the Austrian market with different CBD contents were analyzed. CBD concentrations were between 5 and 30% (m/m) for the spiked samples as well as between 5 and 15% (m/m) for the real samples.

We recently discovered a morpholin-3-one derivative as a novel scaffold for imaging MAGL via positron emission tomography (PET). However, its slow kinetics in vivo hampered the application.

We found a significantly higher avidity in regimens including at least 1 dose of the adenoviral vector vaccine ChAdOx1-S compared with 2 doses of the mRNA vaccine BNT162b2.

We determined the associations of immune cell subsets with incident HF as well as HF subtypes [with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF)].
Methods And Results: Peripheral blood immune cell subsets were measured in adults from the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA) and Cardiovascular Health Study (CHS).
Cells respond to environmental stress by regulating gene expression at the level of both transcription and translation. The ∼50 modified ribonucleotides of the human epitranscriptome contribute to the latter, with mounting evidence that dynamic regulation of transfer RNA (tRNA) wobble modifications leads to selective translation of stress response proteins from codon-biased genes. Here we show that the response of human hepatocellular carcinoma cells to arsenite exposure is regulated by the availability of queuine, a micronutrient and essential precursor to the wobble modification queuosine (Q) on tRNAs reading GUN codons.

In initial teacher education, a call has been made to better prepare pre-service teachers for this complex task. Advances in technology allow this training to be done through authentic learning environments, such as video-based simulations.

In two experiments, participants encoded and immediately recalled two word lists followed by either 6 min wakefully resting or 6 min listening to music.

Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) are systemic diseases that mainly manifest in the gastrointestinal tract. Due to chronically impaired intestinal homeostasis, they often require permanent and in some cases systemic therapy. The exact causes of IBD are largely unknown.

They are more stable toward nucleophilic substitution than acyclic systems and are markedly more Lewis acidic. Herein, this higher Lewis acidity is analyzed and explained via quantum-chemical calculations and energy decomposition analyses.

A key question is whether private expenditures recover once social distancing restrictions are lifted or whether the COVID-19 crisis has a sustained impact on consumer confidence, preferences, and, hence, spending. The elongated and profound experience of the COVID-19 crisis may durably affect consumer preferences.

Methods: Following virus-specific cultivation, we determined the T-cell responses directed against 253 individual overlapping 15-mer peptides covering the entire SARS-CoV-2 spike glycoprotein using IFN-γ ELISpot and intracellular cytokine staining. HLA binding was determined for selected peptides.
The exponential increase in algorithm-based mobile health (mHealth) applications (apps) for melanoma screening is a reaction to a growing market. However, the performance of available apps remains to be investigated. In this prospective study, we investigated the diagnostic accuracy of a class 1 CE-certified smartphone app in melanoma risk stratification and its patient and dermatologist satisfaction.

Methods: We assessed the SARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19 vaccination-induced immunity of 697 hospital workers at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf between 17 and 31 January 2022.
Results: The overall prevalence of anti-NC-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies indicating prior infection was 9.
Background: The contamination of ecosystem compartments by microplastics (MPs) is an ubiquitous problem. MPs have been observed in mice tissues, and recently in human blood, stool and placenta. However, two aspects remain unclear: whether MPs accumulate in peripheral organs, specifically in the liver, and if liver cirrhosis favours this process.

GPS-running watches deliver clinically relevant outcomes including the WR. The aim of this study was to determine test-retest agreement, reliability and concurrent validity of an outdoor WR assessment using a GPS-running watch.

We examined surfaces in rooms occupied by two monkeypox patients on their fourth hospitalisation day. Contamination with up to 105 viral copies/cm2 on inanimate surfaces was estimated by PCR and the virus was successfully isolated from surfaces with more than 106 copies.

We detected a high and stable SARS-CoV-2 membrane-specific CD4 T-cell response in both patients, with higher frequencies of virus-specific CD4 T-cells in the B-cell-depleted patient. However, we found an altered virus-specific CD4 T-cell memory phenotype in the B-cell-depleted patient that was skewed towards late differentiated memory T-cells, as well as reduced frequencies of SARS-CoV-2-specific CD4 T-cells with CD45RA CXCR5 PD-1 circulating T follicular helper cell (cT) phenotype.

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection with different lengths of antigen exposure in acute, chronic, and after resolution of HCV infection is the ideal immunological model to study the expression of TOX in HCV-specific CD8+ T cells with different exposure to antigen. HCV-specific CD8+ T cells from 35 HLA-A*01:01, HLA-A*02:01, and HLA-A*24:02 positive patients were analyzed with a 16-color FACS-panel evaluating the surface expression of lineage markers (CD3, CD8), ectoenzymes (CD39, CD73), markers of differentiation (CD45RO, CCR7, CD127), and markers of exhaustion and activation (TIGIT, PD-1, KLRG1, CD226) and transcription factors (TOX, Eomesodermin, T-bet).

Recently, chalcogen bonding has been investigated in more detail in organocatalysis and the scope of activated functionalities continues to increase. Herein, the activation of imines in a Povarov [4+2] cycloaddition reaction with bidentate cationic chalcogen bond donors is presented. Tellurium-based Lewis acids show superior properties compared to selenium-based catalysts and inactive sulfur-based analogues.
