View Article and Find Full Text PDFSolvothermal reaction of cadmium(II) nitrate with (S)-4,4'-bis(4-carboxyphenyl)-2,2'-bis(diphenylphosphinoyl)-1,1'-binaphthyl (H2L) in dimethylformamide (dmf) gave the two-dimensional chiral coordination polymer [{Cd2(L)2(H2O)}·18 dmf]n (1), which is thermally stable up to 400 °C according to DTA/TG analysis. According to single-crystal X-ray analysis, 1 forms layers in the [1[combining macron]01] direction, which are relatively well separated from each other. Compound L exhibits ligand-based bluish luminescence, assigned to the S1→S0 transition of the aromatic units in L.

This work presents the combustion synthesis as an energy and time-saving preparation method for very small nano-sized Ba₂SiO₄ particles, flexibly doped to acquire different emission energies. The size of the resulting spherical nanoparticles (NPs) of the green emitting Ba₂SiO₄:Eu was estimated to about 35 nm applying the Scherrer equation and further characterized with aid of atomic force microscopy (AFM) as well as scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe loading of a metal-organic framework (MOF), [Cu(3)(btc)(2)xH(2)O] HKUST-1, with europium β-diketonate complexes is studied with the goal to using the porous molecular framework as a photonic antenna. Whereas loading of HKUST-1 powder particles produced via the conventional solvothermal synthesis method was strongly hindered, for HKUST-1 SURMOFs, thin MOF films fabricated using the liquid phase epitaxy method, a high filling factor can be achieved. The optical properties of the HKUST-1-MOFs before and after loading were analysed with the aid of luminescence spectroscopy.
