The one-pot synthesis of iron-doped carbon quantum dots (Fe-CQDs) for use as both magnetic resonance (MR) and fluorescent (dual-mode) imaging nanoprobes is described. Comprehensive characterizations of the material confirmed the successful doping of the CQDs with Fe(II) ions. The imaging probe has a longitudinal relaxivity of 3.

A rapid, simple, and novel method for folate receptor (FR) determination is reported here. A probe of gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) modified with anti-FR antibody was synthesized under the optimized conditions first. The antibody-modified Au NPs would aggregate when FR was added to the probe for the specific interaction between antibody and antigen, resulting in the enhancement of resonance Rayleigh scattering (RRS) intensity.

A sensitive label-free method was presented for the determination of silver ion (Ag+) in this paper. Cytosine-rich DNA (C-DNA) was used as Ag+ specific DNA. Without Ag+ in the solution, fluorescence of fluorescein (FAM) is quenched by C-DNA stabilized gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) in high salt environment.

A simple, cost-effective and rapid method for visual detection of arginine based on the citrate-capped gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) aggregation has been developed in this paper. Arginine is the only amino acid with guanidino group, and has the highest isoelectric point (pI) at about 10.8.

The ability to construct self-assembled architectures is essential for the exploration of nanoparticle-structured properties. It is one of good strategies by employing molecule-modificated nanoparticles to prepare new materials with particular properties. Herein, we found that captopril (Cap), a biocompatible medicament, could adjust and control the formation of self-assembled gold nanorods (Au-NRs) in high ionic strength solutions.
