In sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma (SNSCC), the prognostic relevance of p16INK4a (p16) expression has been reported rarely. This study aims to examine the immunohistochemical expression of p16 and investigate the possibility of p16 as a prognostic factor for SNSCC. The medical records of 173 individuals with SNSCC between 2010 and 2022 were retrospectively reviewed.

Objective: This study was to determine the racial disparities in incidence, clinicopathological features and prognosis of hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (HPSCC) in the US.

Methods: The National Program of Cancer Registries and Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database was used to determine racial disparity in age adjusted incidence rate (AAIR) of HPSCC and its temporal trend during 2004-2019. Using the separate SEER 17 database, we further evaluated racial disparity in clinicopathological features, and in prognosis using Kaplan-Meier curves and Cox proportional hazard models.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigated the prevalence of HPV in sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma (SNSCC) patients in China, revealing limited information on HPV's role in this type of cancer.
  • - Among 30 patients with inverted papilloma-associated SNSCC (IP-SNSCC) and 84 de novo SNSCC (DN-SNSCC), HPV DNA was found in 20% of IP-SNSCC cases and only 3.8% of DN-SNSCC cases, with a weak correlation between p16 expression and HPV presence.
  • - The findings suggest that p16 immunostaining is not a reliable indicator of HPV status in SNSCC, and HPV is infrequently detected in DN-SNSCC patients in Eastern China, indicating

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to compare survival outcomes between patients with de-novo sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma (DN-SNSCC) and those with SCC transformed from inverted papillomas (IP-SNSCC) using data from the Eye and ENT Hospital of Fudan University from 2010 to 2017.
  • - Researchers analyzed 162 patients (39 with IP-SNSCC and 123 with DN-SNSCC) and found no significant differences in overall survival or disease-free survival, although IP-SNSCC patients experienced a higher local failure rate (52.8% vs. 31.9%).
  • - The study concluded that both IP-SNSCC and DN-SNSCC have similar survival rates, but IP-S

This study assessed the prognosis of young patients with nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC), both domestic and foreign, using data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database, a population-based database, and departmental records. Patients diagnosed with NPC from 2004 to 2016 in the SEER database were reviewed. Young patients aged ≤30 years when diagnosed, were compared with older patients.

Background: Sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma (SNSCC) is a rare malignancy with varied outcomes. The aim of this study was to develop a nomogram for predicting survival of patients with SNSCC.

Methods: From the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database, we identified 1766 patients diagnosed with SNSCC between 2004 and 2015.

Background: There is a scarcity of data about the prognostic value of orbital invasion in esthesioneuroblastoma (ENB), as well as about its management strategies. Indications for the preservation of orbital contents remain controversial, and the evaluation of orbital invasion has been ill defined.

Methods: This retrospective analysis contained 60 ENB patients with orbital invasion who underwent radiotherapy with or without surgery over the past 14 years.

Immunotherapy may be a potential alternative for patients with sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma (SNSCC). Data regarding potential immunotherapy targets, such as programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) and tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs), in SNSCC are limited. In this study, we assessed the prevalence and prognostic value of PD-L1 expression and TILs in p16-negative and p16-positive SNSCC.

This study explored the 605 nm carboxyl of water-soluble quantum dots to assess the practicability of the nasopharyngeal carcinoma marker EBNA1 antibody. We used 605 nm carboxyl water-soluble quantum dots and nasopharyngeal carcinoma EBNA1 antigen in 1-(3-dimethylaminopropyl-3-2-ethylcarbonimine hydrochloride to generate quantum dot-labeled antigen. Gel imaging system showed that serum group and 60 patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma had significant differences in 30 cases of normal adult serogroup brightness, Levene test in the two groups ELISA absorbance value was P<0.

Hypopharyngeal cancer (HPC) frequently presents at an advanced stage and displays early submucosal spread, resulting in a poor prognosis. It is among the worst of all cancers in the head and neck subsites. Therefore, detection of HPC at an earlier stage would be beneficial to patients.

Background: We performed this study to explore the clinical effects of a heterogeneous bovine acellular dermal matrix (ADM) used for repairing mucosal defects in reconstructive surgery following resection for laryngeal and hypopharyngeal carcinoma.

Patients And Methods: A summary analysis was carried out on the surgical data of 93 patients who underwent reconstructive surgery using a heterogeneous bovine ADM following resection of laryngeal and hypopharyngeal carcinoma. The patients underwent an electronic laryngoscope review.
