Mixed forests generally have a higher carbon sequestration potential than pure forests. However, the effects of different types of mixed afforestation on soil organic carbon (SOC) and its labile fractions still remain controversial. We examined the concentrations of each SOC labile fraction at 0-50 cm soil depth, understory plant communities, stand plant biomass and studied their integrated effects on soil carbon stocks in three types of Pinus massoniana afforestation: a monoculture (MPF), a mixed forest with Cunninghamia lanceolata (MCLMF) and a mixed forest with Liquidambar formosana (MLMF).

A revisit to interactions of stimulus quality and semantic context on N400 in visual word recognition.

Much behavioral research has revealed interactive effects between stimulus quality and semantic priming in visual word recognition, practically in favor of the interactive activation model. However, the limited number of event-related brain potential (ERP) studies have yielded inconsistent results considering this interaction's impact on N400 amplitude. The current ERP study aimed to examine whether the joint effects of stimulus quality and semantic priming were specific to the lexical decision task.

The current study aims to investigate how parent's health literacy and health belief affect parental hesitancy toward the COVID-19 vaccination, and navigate effective measures to help parents make vaccination decision for children. A mixed-mode web survey was conducted among parents of children aged 3-11 years.

Toxic and nontoxic volatile organic compound (VOC) gases are emitted into the atmosphere from certain solids and liquids as a consequence of wastage and some common daily activities. Inhalation of toxic VOCs has an adverse effect on human health, so it is necessary to monitor their concentration in the atmosphere. In this work, we report on the fabrication of inorganic nanotube (INT)-tungsten disulfide, paper-based graphene-PEDOT:PSS sheet and WS nanotube-modified conductive paper-based chemiresistors for VOC gas sensing.
