Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and AChE inhibitors play critical roles in the early diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Herein, a fluorescence/colorimetry/smartphone triple-mode sensing platform was constructed for both AChE activity monitoring and AChE inhibitor screening by exploring a Cu (I) compound, CuI (SR) (R = CHCHNH), as a fluorescent probe. In comparison of most other fluorescent probes, CuI (SR) presented exceptional stability against pH, temperature, UV irradiation, redox agents, and metal ions, as well as good recyclability due to its unique chemical structure.

Nitrogen removal efficiency and along-path variation of related product concentrations in the sulfur-siderite autotrophic denitrification (SSAD) and sulfur-limestone autotrophic denitrification (SLAD) systems were comprehensively investigated in this work. The optimal denitrification conditions for SSAD and SLAD systems were pH of 7, HRT of 3 h, temperatures of 20-25 °C with NO-N removal rates of more than 99%.

YTH N6-methyladenosine (mA) RNA binding protein 1 (YTHDF1), an mA-binding protein, from the periaqueductal gray (PAG) reportedly contributes to morphine tolerance and hyperalgesia. However, the role of YTHDF1 in morphine withdrawal remains unclear.

So far, various fluorescent probes, with noble metal nanoclusters, quantum dots, organic dyes and metal organic frameworks as representatives, have been widely reported. However, single fluorescent probe often suffers from some deficiencies, such as low quantum yield, poor chemical stability, low water solubility and toxicity.

In addition to directly restrict plant growth, drought stress indirectly impacts plant fitness by altering the diversity and function of root-associated microbiomes. This begs the question of whether the functional microbiome of forage plants, represented by synthetic microbial communities (SynComs), can be leveraged to mitigate drought stress in desert steppes and promote the ecological restoration of these fragile ecosystems.

Homeobox-containing 1 (Hmbox1), a homeobox family member, has been identified as a putative transcriptional repressor and is downregulated in the exercised heart. However, its roles in exercise-induced physiological cardiac growth and its potential protective effects against cardiac I/R injury remain largely unexplored.

In recent years, researchers have discovered that copper can induce cell death through various regulatory mechanisms, thereby inducing inflammation. Efforts have also been made to alter the chemical structure of copper to achieve either anticancer or anti-inflammatory effects.

Alkali metal potassium was beneficial to the electronic regulation and structural stability of transition metal oxides. Herein, K ions were introduced into manganese oxides by different methods to improve the degradation efficiency of toluene. The results of activity experiments indicated that KMnO-HT (HT: Hydrothermal method) exhibited outstanding low-temperature catalytic activity, and 90% conversion of toluene can be achieved at 243°C, which was 41°C and 43°C lower than that of KNO-HT and Mn-HT, respectively.

The quantum yield (QY) and fluorescence lifetime of AuNCs were successfully ameliorated by Ce-triggered AIEE (Ce@AuNCs). Subsequently, on the basis of the inner filter effect (IFE) and dynamic quenching effect (DQE) between 2,6-dichlorophenolindophenol (DCIP) and Ce@AuNCs as well as the reduction of DCIP by ascorbic acid (AA) generated from α-Glu-catalyzed hydrolysis of L-ascorbic acid-2-O-α-D-glucopyranosyl (AA2G), the marriage of fluorometric and colorimetric modes applied for α-Glu activity monitoring was achieved.
