Leaf angle is a major agronomic trait that determines plant architecture, which directly affects rice planting density, photosynthetic efficiency, and yield. The plant phytohormones brassinosteroids (BRs) and the MAPK signaling cascade are known to play crucial roles in regulating the leaf angle, but the underlying molecular mechanisms are not fully understood. Here, we report a rice WRKY family transcription factor gene, OsWRKY72, which positively regulates leaf angle by affecting lamina joint development and BR signaling.

Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) characterised by its diversity and a tendency to defy standard therapeutic approaches. Amidst the advent of immunotherapy, it has become imperative to pinpoint prognostic indicators of the tumour microenvironment (TME) influence the efficacy of treatments. Employing single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq), this research delved into the diverse landscape of ccRCC, uncovering its complex underpinnings and pinpointing molecular avenues for therapeutic intervention.

Background: UCHL5 was initially recognized as a multifunctional molecule. While recent research has highlighted its involvement in tumor malignant biological behaviors, its specific role in promoting tumor cell apoptosis has drawn particular attention. However, the precise relationship between UCHL5 and various tumor types, as well as its influence within the immune microenvironment, remains unclear.

The long-term mining of vanadium-titanium (V-Ti) magnetite has generated a large accumulation of tailings, which can lead to metal pollution via microbial bioleaching. Current research has focused on the bioleaching of minerals, and a few studies have explored microbial responses to metals only through limited metabolite concentrations. However, the trigger mechanisms of metal release during the V-Ti magnetite tailing bioleaching and key gene regulatory pathways for organic acid metabolism are still unclear.

With the rapid development of mobile communication technology and wearable electronic devices, the electromagnetic radiation generated by high-frequency information exchange inevitably threatens human health, so high-performance wearable electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding materials are urgently needed. The 2D nanomaterial MXene exhibits superior EMI shielding performance owing to its high conductivity, however, its mechanical properties are limited due to the high porosity between MXene nanosheets. In recent years, it has been reported that by introducing natural nanocellulose as an organic framework, the EMI shielding and mechanical properties of MXene/nanocellulose composites can be synergically improved, which are expected to be widely used in wearable multifunctional shielding devices.

This study explores the impact of short-term annealing on the thermal stability and mechanical properties of oxygen-free copper subjected to high-pressure torsion (HPT). Copper samples were deformed through HPT with varying numbers of turns at room temperature and subsequently subjected to short-term annealing at temperatures of 398 K and 423 K. Microstructural analysis revealed that annealing led to grain growth and a reduction in dislocation density, with samples processed with fewer HPT turns exhibiting more significant grain coarsening.

It is important to systematically identify tumor suppressor genes (TSGs) to improve our understanding of tumorigenesis and develop strategies for early diagnosis and mitigating disease progression. In the present study, we used an in vivo genome-wide clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)-CRISPR-associated protein 9 (Cas9) screen and identified FPS/FES-related (FER) as a TSG. Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) revealed that normal cells with low FER expression exhibited elevated malignant transformation potential and stemness properties.
