Herein, we introduce an in situ growth strategy for fabricating two-dimensional heterojunctions between indium porphyrin metal-organic framework (In-MOF) and single-layer graphene oxide (GO). Upon illumination, the In-MOF/GO heterostructure facilitates a tandem CO capture and photocatalytic reduction on its hydroxylated In-node, prioritizing the reduction of dilute CO even in the presence of air-level O.

This study explores the use of alkaline treatment to produce a fermentation broth from primary sludge, which predominantly contains short-chain volatile fatty acids (VFAs), with acetic acid and propionic acid making up over 65% of the total VFAs. The performance of this fermentation broth as a sole carbon source for denitrification was compared with that of sodium acetate, acetic acid, methanol, and ethanol in both biofilm and activated sludge systems.

Background: Thyroid metastases from uterine cervical carcinoma are exceedingly rare. Imaging examination and pathological detection exert a pivotal function in distinguishing between benign and malignant thyroid tumors, as well as differentiating metastases from primary thyroid cancer.
Case Presentation: Here, we present two cases of uterine cervical cancer metastasizing to the thyroid gland, confirmed by postoperative histopathology at our hospital.
Background: Alterations in the degrees of milling (DOM) could significantly influence the odor of rice. A gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS)-based untargeted metabolomics method has been effectively employed to identify the differential volatiles among rice from various origins or varieties, although it has not been utilized to identify the differential volatiles among cooked rice with different DOM.
Results: Fifty volatile compounds were detected in cooked brown rice (CBR), cooked medium-milled rice (CMMR) and cooked well-milled rice (CWMR) of the four fragrant Simiao rice by GC-MS.
This study investigated the influence of preformed composition and pore size on the microstructure and properties of SiC/SiC composites fabricated via reactive melt infiltration (RMI). The process began with the impregnation of SiC fiber cloth with phenolic resin, followed by lamination and pyrolysis. Subsequent steps included further impregnations with phenolic resin, SiC slurry, and carbon black slurry, each followed by additional pyrolysis.

Eco-friendly castor oil-based composites with a high content of clam shell powder were prepared in this study. Biomass composites were prepared by blending castor-oil-based polyurethane prepolymer (COPU) with a filler consisting of high-content clam shell powder (CSP), named CSP-COPU. The structure, microstructure, mechanical properties, and thermal stability of the composites were investigated.

This study aimed to explore the relationship between CI and carotid plaque instability, as well as the potential differences between sexes in this context.
Methods: Our cross-sectional study included a total of 44,248 participants from the China Stroke High-risk Population Screening and Intervention Program (CSHPSIP), all of whom underwent carotid ultrasound for the evaluation of carotid plaque.
Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory dermatosis driven by excessive activation of the immune system. Recent studies have demonstrated the therapeutic potential of mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles (MSC-EVs) to psoriasis because of their immunomodulation functions. Yet, the outcome of MSC-EVs alone is still unsatisfactory and the underlying mechanisms are also unclear.

Method: Forty-two SIL-TPP procedures for bilateral inguinal hernia repair were conducted from June 2018 to July 2022 at the First Affiliated Hospital of Ningbo University using standard laparoscopic instruments and a single-port device. Clinical data such as demographic intraoperative parameters and short-term postoperative outcomes were collected and analysed.
Glypican-3 (GPC3) is exclusively overexpressed in most Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tissue but not in normal liver tissue, making it a promising biomarker for the precise detection of HCC. In this paper, a label-free light-addressable potentiometric sensor (LAPS) decorated by platinumpalladium-hemin-reduced graphene oxide nanocomposites (PtPd@H-rGO NCs) was constructed for determination of GPC3. The GPC3 aptamer (GPC3) and PtPd@H-rGO NCs were modified on the surface of silicon-based LAPS chip to build sensitive unit of LAPS system.

Conventional lignin, a dehydrogenated polymer derived primarily from hydroxycinnamic alcohol monomers, exhibits relatively low antioxidant and ultraviolet (UV)-blocking activities due to its structural imperfection. Herein, we demonstrated that the dehydrogenated polymer of ferulic acid (an unconventional lignin precursor) (FAL) had excellent antioxidant and UV-blocking properties. Structural characterization showed that FAL contains abundant dihydrobenzofuran and butyrolactone structures, free phenolic hydroxyl groups, and cinnamic acid end groups.

Variants of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) continue to emerge and evade immunity, resulting in breakthrough infections in vaccinated populations. There is an urgent need for the development of vaccines with broad protective effects. In this study, we selected hotspot mutations in the receptor-binding domain (RBD) that contribute to immune escape properties and integrated them into the original RBD protein to obtain a complex RBD protein (cRBD), and we found cRBDs have broad protective effects against SARS-CoV-2 variants.

Due to the high heterogeneity and the immunosuppressive microenvironment of tumors, most single antigen tumor vaccines often fail to elicit potent antitumor immune responses in clinical trials, resulting in unsatisfactory therapy effects. Hence, personalized tumor vaccines have become a promising modality for cancer immunotherapy. Here, we have developed a tumor in situ hydrogel vaccine (AH/DA-OR) capable of rapid hemostasis for personalized tumor immunotherapy, composed of dopamine-grafted hyaluronic acid (HA/DA) combined with sodium alginate (ALG), with coloaded oxaliplatin (OXA) and resiquimod (R848).
