To explore impact of the propensity to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine/vaccination on influenza vaccination from willingness to behavior after COVID-19 pandemic among older adults in rural China. A combined study involving a cross-sectional survey for the willingness of influenza vaccination, a health education momentary intervention and a community intervention program were conducted from September 11 to 16, 2023 among rural older adults in China. Totally 3138 individuals were investigated in this study with 1923 (61.

Article Synopsis
  • Infectious diseases are a significant global threat, highlighting the need to enhance the capabilities of the public health workforce through the development of the Infectious Disease Control Competency Scale (IDCCS).
  • The IDCCS was created by reviewing existing literature and involving expert feedback through a Delphi process, leading to the identification of key indicators within three main dimensions: knowledge, practical skills, and leadership.
  • The final IDCCS includes a three-level scale with four primary dimensions and demonstrates strong reliability and validity, effectively serving as a framework for improving the competencies of public health professionals.

Infant hepatitis B vaccine coverage in China is high, with over 95% of infants immunized; however, high vaccine coverage can often mask low timeliness. The vaccination interval between the second and third doses is not clearly defined by immunization guidelines in China. This retrospective cohort study assessed the time interval distribution of hepatitis B vaccination among a cohort of randomly selected live births from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention across four provinces or municipalities in China between January 2017 and December 2021.

Purpose: To evaluate the impact of momentary intervention on the willingness and actual uptake of influenza vaccination among the elderly in China.

Methods: A cross-sectional study assessed the willingness of the elderly to receive influenza vaccination, and an momentary intervention aimed to increase vaccination willingness among those initially unwilling. The elderly reporting a willingness were offered free influenza vaccination through a community intervention program.

Background: As the SARS-CoV-2 attenuates and antibodies from the COVID-19 vaccine decline, long-term attention should be paid to the durability of primary booster administration and the preventive effect of the second or multiple booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Objective: This study aimed to explore the durability of primary booster administration and the preventive effect of second or multiple booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Methods: We established a bidirectional cohort in Guizhou Province, China.

Article Synopsis
  • China aims to reduce chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) mortality by expanding antiviral therapy to meet WHO's 2030 goals, focusing on optimal treatment strategies based on ALT levels and coverage.* -
  • A decision-tree model analyzed 136 scenarios regarding treatment initiation thresholds (varying by gender and age) and potential health outcomes versus costs associated with different treatment strategies from 2023 to 2033.* -
  • Findings suggest that adjusting treatment thresholds could substantially reduce HBV-related complications and deaths; for instance, one scenario could prevent 3247 complications and 470 deaths by 2030, albeit at a significant cost.*

In China, adverse events following immunization (AEFI) are reported by the China AEFI Surveillance System (CNAEFIS). Serious AEFI, including deaths, are mandatorily reported and are evaluated for causality by province-or prefecture-level panels of experts. Yeast-derived HepB is the most widely used HepB in China for infants.

Background: Hepatitis B vaccine (HepB) has been routinely recommended as part of the immunization program in China and has had a satisfactory safety and effectiveness profile in protecting infants from hepatitis B virus infection. We evaluated the surveillance sensitivity and changes over time of AEFI reports related to HepB among infants based on the consistent national data before and after the introduction of vaccine administration law (LAW) from 2013 to 2020 in China.

Methods: AEFI records were extracted from the Chinese National AEFI Surveillance System from 2013 to 2020.

We aim to evaluate the evolution differences in the incidence and case fatality rate (CFR) of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) Delta and Omicron variants. The average incidence and CFRs were described between different countries. A gamma generalized linear mixed model (GLMM) was used to compare the CFRs of Delta and Omicron variants based on vaccination coverage.

Objective: As the variants of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) continue to emerge, periodic vaccine booster immunization may become a normal policy. This study investigated the changes and factors associated with vaccination intentions in various epidemic situations, which can provide suggestions for the construction and modification of routine vaccination program strategies.

Methods: Two cross-sectional online surveys were conducted in January and June of 2021.

Objective: To verify the reliability and validity of a vaccine hesitancy scale about knowledge, attitude, trust and vaccination environment (KATE-S) among the Chinese parents.

Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted by convenience sampling in China using the KATE-S to assess knowledge of vaccines, attitudes towards vaccines, trust in acquired information and vaccination environment and vaccination status of vaccine introduced in immunization program among children.

Result: A total of 199 valid questionnaires were collected from the parents.

The SARS-CoV-2 vaccine has been widely rolled out globally in the general populations. However, specific data on vaccination confidence, willingness or coverage among health care workers (HCWs) has been less reported. : A cross-sectional online survey was conducted to specify the basic data and patterns of vaccination confidence, willingness and coverage among HCWs nationwide.

Background: Vaccination against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has become an important public health solution. To date, there has been a lack of data on COVID-19 vaccination willingness, vaccine hesitancy, and vaccination coverage in China since the vaccine has become available.

Methods: We designed and implemented a cross-sectional, population-based online survey to evaluate the willingness, hesitancy, and coverage of the COVID-19 vaccine among the Chinese population.

Subjects with schizophrenia have high risks of metabolic abnormalities and bioenergetic dysfunction. Acyl-carnitines involved in bioenergetic pathways provide potential biomarker targets for identifying early changes and onset characteristics in subjects with schizophrenia. We measured 29 acyl-carnitine levels within well-characterized plasma samples of adults with schizophrenia and healthy controls using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS).

Schizophrenia is a major psychiatric disorder with complex genetic, environmental, and psychological etiologies. Although DISC1 gene has been shown as a risk factor for schizophrenia in some reports, there is a lack of a consensus. We therefore performed separate meta-analyses aiming to assess the associations between DISC1 SNPs and schizophrenia risk.

Schizophrenia (SCZ) is a multifactorial psychiatric disorder. Currently, its molecular pathogenesis remains largely unknown, and no reliable test for diagnosis and therapy monitoring is available. Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and their derived eicosanoid signaling abnormalities are relevant to the pathophysiology of schizophrenia.
