Studying the genomic and transcriptomic mechanisms underlying its local adaptation could help explain its persistence within a highly specialized ecological niche.
Results: In this study, we used PacBio sequencing and optical assembly and Hi-C analysis to create a high-quality de novo assembly of the T.
Domestication and subsequent selection of cattle to form breeds and biological types that can adapt to different environments partitioned ancestral genetic diversity into distinct modern lineages. Genome-wide selection particularly for adaptation to extreme environments left detectable signatures genome-wide. We used high-density genotype data for 42 cattle breeds and identified the influence of Bos grunniens and Bos javanicus on the formation of Chinese indicine breeds that led to their divergence from India-origin zebu.

To improve our understanding on the aerodynamic wall shear fluctuation in particle-laden flow, we perform statistical and spectral analyses of aerodynamic wall shear fluctuation in sand-free and sand-laden flows in a turbulent boundary layer based on the results of a wind tunnel experiment. An increase in the skewness of the probability density function of aerodynamic wall shear fluctuation is found in the sand-laden flow. The turbulent intensity of aerodynamic wall shear stress increases rapidly with the sand mass flux.

Methods: We propose a novel architecture based on 3D multi-task learning to determine the invasiveness of GGNs. In total, 770 patients with 909 GGNs who underwent lung CT scans were enrolled.
Background: The purpose of this study was to assess the safety and efficacy of percutaneous transcatheter embolization (TCE) for the treatment of pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVMs).
Methods: Forty-three consecutive patients (n = 17 males; n = 26 females) with 72 untreated PAVMs underwent coil and/or plug embolization between January 2010 and February 2018. The mean patient age was 42 ± 14 years (range 19-71 years).
The poor electrical conductivity of two-dimensional (2D) crystalline frameworks greatly limits their utilization in optoelectronics and sensor technology. Herein, we describe a conductive metallophthalocyanine-based NiPc-CoTAA framework with cobalt(II) tetraaza[14]annulene linkages. The high conjugation across the whole network combined with densely stacked metallophthalocyanine units endows this material with high electrical conductivity, which can be greatly enhanced by doping with iodine.

Even though CNN based techniques have achieved great success in medical image segmentation, the expensive annotation, large memory consumption, and insufficient generalization ability still pose challenges to their application in clinical practice, especially in the case of 3D segmentation from high-resolution and large-dimension volumetric imaging. In this paper, we propose a few-shot learning framework by combining ideas of semi-supervised learning and self-training for whole heart segmentation and achieve promising accuracy with a Dice score of 0.

Recently, the clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)-associated protein 9 (CRISPR/Cas9) has revolutionized gene editing technology and is capable of treating a variety of genetic diseases, including human tumors, but there is a lack of safe and effective targeting delivery systems in vivo, especially in the central nervous system (CNS).
Methods: Lipid-polymer hybrid nanoparticles (LPHNs-cRGD) were constructed for efficient and targeting delivery of CRISPR/Cas9 plasmids targeting O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT), a drug-resistance gene to temozolomide (TMZ).
Background: To investigate the role and underlying mechanism of miR-4497 in oxidative stress and inflammatory injury in keratinocytes induced by ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation.
Methods: An injury model of keratinocytes induced by UVB radiation was constructed. RT-qPCR, MTT assay and flow cytometry were adopted to detect miR-4497 expression in HaCaT cells, cell proliferation, and cell apoptosis, respectively.
Background: Calcineurin B-like protein (CBL)-interacting protein kinases (CIPKs) are the primary components of calcium sensors, and play crucial roles in plant developmental processes, hormone signaling transduction, and in the response to exogenous stresses.
Results: In this study, 48 CIPK genes (SsCIPKs) were identified from the genome of Saccharum spontaneum. Phylogenetic reconstruction suggested that the SsCIPK gene family may have undergone six gene duplication events from the last common ancestor (LCA) of SsCIPKs.
Pituitary adenoma (PA) is mostly benign intracranial tumor, but it also displays invasive growth characteristics and provokes challenging clinical conditions. S100A9 protein enhances tumor progression. In this study, we firstly demonstrated that both intracellular and extracellular S100A9 promoted the expression of Vimentin and Intercellular cell adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), coupled with reduced E-cadherin in PA.

Segmentation of medical images, particularly late gadolinium-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (LGE-MRI) used for visualizing diseased atrial structures, is a crucial first step for ablation treatment of atrial fibrillation. However, direct segmentation of LGE-MRIs is challenging due to the varying intensities caused by contrast agents. Since most clinical studies have relied on manual, labor-intensive approaches, automatic methods are of high interest, particularly optimized machine learning approaches.
