Mode converters (MCs) play an essential role in mode-division multiplexing (MDM) systems. Numerous schemes have been developed on the silicon-on-insulator (SOI) platform, yet most of them focus solely on the conversion of fundamental mode to one or two specific higher-order modes. In this study, we introduce a hybrid shape optimization (HSO) method that combines particle swarm optimization (PSO) with adjoint methods to optimize the shape of the S-bend waveguide, facilitating the design of arbitrary-order MCs featuring compactness and high performance.

Methods: Serological indicators of 131 anti-MDA5-positive DM patients were analysed. All 35 patients with pharyngeal and laryngeal symptoms underwent electronic laryngoscopy examinations.
Background: Conventional management (CM), substantial fertilization and flooding irrigation, has led to soil acidification, the decrease in soil bacterial diversity in bamboo forests. Integration of water and fertilizer management (IWF) can effectively improve the efficiency of water and fertilizer use, but its effect on soil environment, especially on microbial community, is still unclear.
Methods: Here, we used next-generation high-throughput sequencing to compare soil properties and bacterial communities through different fertilization and irrigation methods under IWF and CM.

Objective: To investigate the current status of elderly health services in medical institutions at all levels within Guangxi Province, China.
Methods: Using a purposeful sampling method, a questionnaire survey was conducted from July 24, 2023 to October 24, 2023 on the general situation, human resources, rehabilitation medicine, nursing services, and the development of hospice care at 1305 medical institutions in Guangxi.
Results: Among the surveyed 1305 medical institutions in Guangxi, 172 (13.
, also known as passion fruit, is celebrated for its rich nutritional content, distinctive flavour, and significant medicinal benefits. At present, viral diseases pose a major challenge to the passion fruit industry, affecting both the production and quality of the fruit. These diseases impede the sustainable and healthy growth of the passion fruit sector.

Methods: A total of 305 AAV patients admitted to the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University between October 2010 and December 2023 were analyzed. Demographic, clinical, and laboratory data were compared between AAV patients with and without thyroid disease.
Background: Invertases (INVs) are key enzymes in sugar metabolism, cleaving sucrose into glucose and fructose and playing an important role in plant development and the stress response, however, the INV gene family in passion fruit has not been systematically reported.
Results: In this study, a total of 16 PeINV genes were identified from the passion fruit genome and named according to their subcellular location and chromosome position. These include six cell wall invertase (CWINV) genes, two vacuolar invertase (VINV) genes, and eight neutral/alkaline invertase (N/AINV) genes.
Accurate detection of tumor biomarkers in blood is crucial for diagnosing and treating tumor disease. In this study, a metal enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (MeLISA) was fabricated for the ultrasensitive and naked-eye detection of tumor biomarker alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) in clinical serum samples. Herein, novel copper metal-organic frameworks and gold platinum nanoparticle composites (Cu-MOFs@AuPtNPs) were synthesized for the first time by an method, which showed an enormous specific surface area and excellent peroxidase (POx) mimicking properties.

Chitosan microspheres were conveniently synthesized and utilized as the cleanup adsorbent in the QuEChERS procedure, showcasing rapid filtration one-step pretreatment ability for the determination of drug multi-residues in aquatic products. Compared to conventional synthetic sorbents, chitosan microspheres not only have good purification performance, but also have renewable and degradable properties.

At this point, non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) are essential components of the public health response to COVID-19. How to combine different NPIs in the early stages of an outbreak to control the spread of epidemics and ensure that the policy combination does not incur high socio-economic costs became the focus of this study.

At present, there are a limited number of research reports on PDTC and ATC. The study aimed to analysis the predictive value of hematologic parameters and clinicopathological features of PDTC and ATC.

Hence, a facile solvothermal-assisted low-temperature calcination strategy was employed to modulate the microstructure of semicoke-derived carbon anodes. Owing to the effective pseudo-graphite phase modulation, the modified carbon anode exhibited a significant increase in capacity, cycling stability and ion kinetics in both lithium-ion batteries and sodium-ion batteries.

Red blood cells are destroyed when the shear stress in the blood pump exceeds a threshold, which in turn triggers hemolysis in the patient. The impeller design of centrifugal blood pumps significantly influences the hydraulic characteristics and hemolytic properties of these devices. Based on this premise, the present study employs a multiphase flow approach to numerically simulate centrifugal blood pumps, investigating the performance of pumps with varying numbers of blades and blade deflection angles.

Upstream in the regulatory network, a small family of single-stranded DNA/RNA-binding proteins known as WHIRLYs occupy a central node, acting at multiple regulatory levels and via trans-localization between the nucleus and organelles. In this review, we summarize the current progress on the role of WHIRLY members in plant development and stress-induced senescence.

Traditional time-frequency domain methods struggle to differentiate between speech and noise, leading to a risk of speech distortion. This paper introduces an approach that combines the time domain and time-frequency domain using the W-net module to suppress noise at the front end.
