We identified all COP patients diagnosed between 1999 and 2012 in Taiwan using the Nationwide Poisoning Database and selected a reference cohort (participants without COP) from the same database by exact matching of age and index date at a 1:2 ratio. Participants with a history of adrenal insufficiency or steroid use of more than 14 days were excluded.
