Background: Predicting the efficacy of immune-based therapy in patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains a clinical challenge. This study aims to evaluate the prognostic value of the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) in forecasting treatment response and survival outcomes for HCC patients undergoing immune-based therapy.
Methods: We analyzed a cohort of 268 HCC patients treated with immune-based therapy from January 2019 to March 2023.
Background: HD is a devastating neurodegenerative disorder caused by the expansion of CAG repeats in the HTT. Silencing the expression of mutated proteins is a therapeutic direction to rescue HD patients, and recent advances in gene editing technology such as CRISPR/CasRx have opened up new avenues for therapeutic intervention.
Methods: The CRISPR/CasRx system was employed to target human HTT exon 1, resulting in an efficient knockdown of HTT mRNA.
Importance: Persisting or new thrombi in the distal arteries and the microcirculation have been reported to limit the benefits of successful endovascular thrombectomy for patients with acute ischemic stroke. It remains uncertain whether intra-arterial thrombolysis by urokinase following near-complete to complete reperfusion by thrombectomy improves outcomes among patients with ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion.
Objective: To assess the efficacy and adverse events of intra-arterial urokinase after near-complete to complete reperfusion by thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion.
Background: Origami is a popular activity among preschool children and can be used by therapists as an evaluation tool to assess children's development in clinical settings. It is easy to implement, appealing to children, and time-efficient, requiring only simple materials-pieces of paper. Furthermore, the products of origami may reflect children's ages and their visual-motor integration (VMI) development.

Dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) is an important diagnostic tool that allows for the dynamic observation of blood flow characteristics of breast tumors, including small lesions within the affected tissue. Currently, it is widely used in clinical practice and has been shown promising prospects.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease with destructive arthritis as its main clinical manifestation, which is a major cause of disability. It is very important to formulate and update a guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of RA that adhere to international guideline development standards and can be applied to clinical practice in China. This guideline is endorsed and developed by the National Clinical Research Center for Dermatologic and Immunologic Diseases, collaborated with Rheumatologists Branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association, Rheumatology Rehabilitation Branch of Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine, Rheumatology Branch of Chinese Research Hospital Association, and Rheumatology Branch of Beijing Association of Holistic Integrative Medicine, based on grading of recommendations assessment, development and evaluation (GRADE) and reporting items for practice guidelines in healthcare (RIGHT).

Exosomes are extracellular vesicles with a size of 30-200 nm that have been widely applied as drug carriers over the last decade. In this study, melanoma-derived exosomes were used to develop a perfluorocarbon (PFC) drug nanocarriers loaded with indocyanine green (ICG) and camptothecin (CPT) (ICFESs) for targeted cancer photochemotherapy.

Fluorogenic RNA aptamers have revolutionized the visualization of RNAs within complex cellular processes. A representative category of them employs the derivatives of green fluorescent protein chromophore, 4-hydroxybenzlidene imidazolinone (HBI), as chromophores. However, the structural homogeneity of their chromophoric backbones causes severe cross-reactivity with other homologous chromophores.

This method allows for the precise incorporation of desired chemical structures at specific sites on the phosphorothioate backbone through conjugation with electrophilic groups. The reaction is characterized by its high reactivity and yield, as well as its ability to enhance the hydrophilicity of otherwise hydrophobic compounds.

However, studies evaluating acupuncture for TTH from the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and its mechanisms are limited. This literature review synthesizes findings from twelve clinical studies that investigated acupuncture for TTH treatment.

Hydrothermal fluid flow is deemed as a potentially crucial factor affecting the occurrence of deep oil reservoirs, such as enhancing porosity/permeability of reservoirs, accelerating oil generation and thermal cracking, and modifying organic properties of crude oils. Understanding the interplay between hydrothermal fluids and crude oils would provide useful constraints for reconstructing hydrocarbon accumulation processes and predicting the distribution patterns of crude oils.

In this study, we identified a rice thin culm mutant tc4, characterized by thinner culms and thicker cavity walls, resulting in weakened culm mechainical strength. Using map-based cloning, the candidate gene was isolated, and complementation and CRISPR/Cas9 experiments confirmed that a single nucleotide substitution in TC4 is responsible for the thin and brittle culm phenotype.

It simplifies the composite foundation using the area-weighted composite modulus method and establishes a finite element model of a double-line EPBM passing beneath the cement-soil group pile composite foundation building. The calculation results were compared and validated against monitoring data.

We aimed to assess whether using a procalcitonin-guided algorithm would safely reduce the duration of antibiotic therapy compared with usual care, in which C-reactive protein is the commonly used biomarker.
Methods: The BATCH trial was a pragmatic, multicentre, open-label, parallel, two-arm, individually randomised, controlled trial conducted in 15 hospitals in England and Wales.
Purpose: This study aims to investigate the individual differences in perceived controllability among women with gynecologic cancer who are undergoing chemotherapy. We also examined the mediating effect of symptom distress on the relationship between individual differences and perceived controllability.
Methods: This cross-sectional study employs purposive sampling; data were collected via self-reported questionnaires.
Osteoporosis is characterized by increased osteoclast activity, which is strongly associated with increased levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Fraxin, a natural coumarin glycoside, has shown anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, but its effects on bone homeostasis are obscure. The effects of fraxin on osteoclast formation and activation were measured via an in vitro osteoclastogenesis assay.

During persistent MHW events which are associated with strong El Niño events, CO outgassing is notably reduced, however, its detailed spatiotemporal response to MHWs has not been fully characterized. In this study, we showed a high degree of consistency between CO source regions in the central and eastern tropical Pacific Ocean and the occurrence regions with average annual MHW days exceeding 45 days (co-occurring area covers 80% of the area where MHWs occur).

To address the shortcomings of light detection and ranging (LiDAR) sensors in extracting road surface elevation information in front of a vehicle, a scheme for digital terrain construction based on the fusion of an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and LiDAR perception is proposed. First, two sets of sensor coordinate systems were configured, and the parameters of LiDAR and IMU were calibrated. Then, a terrain construction system based on the fusion perception of IMU and LiDAR was established, and improvements were made to the state estimation and mapping architecture.
