The efficacy and safety of adjunctive nonconvulsive electrotherapy (NET) for patients with depression are undetermined. This systematic review was conducted to examine the efficacy and safety of adjunctive NET for patients with depression. Chinese (WanFang and Chinese Journal Net) and English (PubMed, EMBASE, PsycINFO and the Cochrane Library) databases were systematically searched from their inception until Jan 27, 2021 by three independent investigators.

FTO variant is not associated with osteoarthritis in the Chinese Han population: replication study for a genome-wide association study identified risk loci.

Background: Osteoarthritis is the most prevalent form of arthritis worldwide and is the major cause of pain and loss of function in elderly people. A signal of the fat mass and obesity-associated (FTO) gene had been reported in a genome-wide association study of osteoarthritis. The FTO polymorphism (rs8044769) might exert its effect on osteoarthritis through obesity, because it was reported as a body mass index-associated single-nucleotide polymorphism.

Does intermittent pneumatic compression increase the risk of pulmonary embolism in deep venous thrombosis after joint surgery?

The present study aimed to identify the incidence and risk factors of symptomatic pulmonary embolism and evaluate the safety of early intermittent pneumatic compression application in patients with deep venous thrombosis (DVT) after joint surgery. A total of 144 patients with DVT undergoing joint surgery were divided into two groups according to the appearance of symptomatic pulmonary embolism. Venography and computed tomographic pulmonary angiography were utilized as the assessment methods.

Influence of intra-articular administration of trichostatin a on autologous osteochondral transplantation in a rabbit model.

Autologous osteochondral transplantation (AOT) is a method for articular cartilage repair. However, several disadvantages of this method have been reported, such as transplanted cartilage degeneration and the lack of a connection between the grafted and adjacent cartilage tissues. To evaluate the effect of intra-articular administration of trichostatin A (TSA) on AOT, we conducted a case control study in a rabbit model.

The incidence of deep venous thrombosis after arthroscopically assisted anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.

Purpose: The purpose of our study was to retrospectively assess and analyze the incidence of deep venous thrombosis (DVT) after arthroscopically assisted anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) at our institution.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of 249 arthroscopic ACLRs performed in our hospital between February 2009 and February 2012. The surgical procedure was standardized in all the patients and was conducted by the same 2 surgeons.
