The energy density of lithium-sulfurized polyacrylonitrile (Li-SPAN) batteries has chronically suffered from low sulfur content. Although a free-standing electrode can significantly reduce noncapacity mass contribution, the slow bulk reaction kinetics still constrain the electrochemical performance. In this regard, a novel electrochemically active additive, polypyrrole (PPy), is introduced to construct PAN nanotubes as a sulfur carrier.

Current guidelines lack clear recommendations between the implantation of cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) with defibrillator (CRT-D) and CRT with pacemaker (CRT-P). We hypothesized that modified model for end-stage liver disease score including albumin (MELD-Albumin score), could be used to select patients who may not benefit from CRT-D. We consecutively included patients with CRT-P or CRT-D implantation between 2010 and 2022.

Chest tightness variant asthma (CTVA) was first reported and named by Chinese scholars in 2013. It is a new clinical type of asthma characterized by chest tightness as the only or primary symptom, without typical asthma manifestations such as recurrent wheezing and shortness of breath, and without wheezing sounds heard during lung auscultation. The overall epidemiological data on CTVA is currently unavailable.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess pediatricians' awareness, diagnosis, and treatment of chest tightness variant asthma (CTVA) in China through an online survey conducted between January and February 2021.
  • A total of 1,484 pediatricians participated, with a reported awareness rate of 77.83%, and those in tertiary hospitals exhibited higher awareness and better adherence to treatment guidelines compared to those in secondary hospitals.
  • The initial treatment of CTVA primarily included inhaled corticosteroids (ICS), but the effective control rate of CTVA was significantly lower in secondary hospitals than in tertiary hospitals, indicating a gap in clinical practice.

Defects in perovskite films are one of the main factors that affect the efficiency and stability of halide perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Uncoordinated ions (such as Pb, I) act as trap states, causing the undesirable non-radiative recombination of photogenerated carriers. The formation of Lewis acid-base adducts in perovskite directly involves the crystallization process, which can effectively passivate defects.

Diverse molecular processes regulate the interactions between insect herbivores and their host plants. When plants are exposed to insects, elicitors induce plant defenses, and complex physiological and biochemical processes are triggered, such as the activation of the jasmonic acid (JA) and salicylic acid (SA) pathways, Ca flux, reactive oxygen species (ROS) burst, mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) activation, and other responses. For better adaptation, insects secrete a large number of effectors to interfere with plant defenses on multiple levels.

Background: Observational studies suggest an association between blood pressure (BP) and functional outcomes in ischemic stroke patients but whether this is causal or due to confounding is uncertain. We used Mendelian randomization (MR) to assess causality, and also explore whether particular classes of anti-hypertensives were associated with a better outcome after ischemic stroke.

Methods: We selected genetic variants associated with systolic and diastolic BP and BP-lowering variants in genes encoding antihypertensive drugs from genome-wide association studies (GWAS) on 757,601 individuals.

Background: Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most malignant primary tumor in the brain, with poor prognosis and limited effective therapies. Although Bevacizumab (BEV) has shown promise in extending progression-free survival (PFS) treating GBM, there is no evidence for its ability to prolong overall survival (OS). Given the uncertainty surrounding BEV treatment strategies, we aimed to provide an evidence map associated with BEV therapy for recurrent GBM (rGBM).

In the present work, the Doppler Shift Attenuation method (DSAM) was used to analyze the observed lineshapes of transitions from excited states in Sc, populated in the reaction Ar + C at a beam energy of 145 MeV. The interpretation and comparison of the experimental results have been performed with large-scale shell model calculations, involving different interactions like: GX1A, GX1J, FPD6, KB3 and ZBM2. KB3 and FPD6 (present work) interactions in the negative parity states, and in positive parity states ZBM2 are most pre-eminent in reproducing the results, due to the large configuration space describing strong collective effects.
