By harnessing the power of coordination self-assembly, crystalline materials can act as carriers for photoacids. Unlike their solution-based counterparts, these photoacids are capable of altering the properties of the crystalline material under light and can even generate proton transfer in a solid-state environment. Background: Fracture repair involves the reactivation of developmental signaling cascades, including Wnt signaling that stimulates bone formation and bone regeneration. Rodent data indicate that dual inhibition of the Wnt signaling antagonists sclerostin and Dickkopf-1 (DKK1) increases callus bone volume and strength while increasing bone mass systemically.

Methods: We evaluated the effects of 16 weeks of subcutaneously administered carrier solution (vehicle, VEH), anti-sclerostin antibody (Scl-Ab), anti-DKK1 antibody (DKK1-Ab), or Scl-Ab plus DKK1-Ab combination therapy (COMBO) on ulnar osteotomy healing in nonhuman primates (cynomolgus monkeys; 20 to 22 per group).

Somatic hotspot mutations and structural amplifications and fusions that affect fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 (encoded by FGFR2) occur in multiple types of cancer. The decay of algal biomass and aquatic plants in freshwater lakes leads to the overproduction of autochthonous organic matter (OM) and the exhaustion of dissolved oxygen, impacting the microbial community and subsequent biodegradation of emerging contaminants in sediment. This study explored how the microbial processing of aquatic plant- and algal-derived OM (POM and AOM) mediates 17α-ethinylestradiol (EE2) biodegradation in the anoxic sediments of Lake Taihu in China. Scutellarin plays an anti-tumor role in A549 lung cancer cells, but the underlying mechanism is unclear. In this study, scutellarin was used to treat A549 cells for 12, 24, and 48 h, followed by the addition of Tempo, a selective scavenger of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS) and SB431542, a transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1 receptor inhibitor. Stimuli-responsive functional materials, especially the light stimulation color change and tunable fluorescent materials, have received considerable attention because of their broad applications in smart materials. Herein, a series of lanthanide-based [Ln = Nd(III) (), Sm(III) (), Eu(III) (), Gd(III) (), Tb(III) (), Yb(III) (), and Lu(III) ()] crystalline complexes were attained by simply adding the aqueous lanthanide nitrate solution to the water-soluble naphthalenediimide derivative.
