Background: Scavenger receptor A (SRA) can regulate immune response and is involved in pathophysiological processes of acute brain injury. We analyzed the prognostic role of serum soluble SRA in intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH).

Methods: In this prospective cohort study of 110 healthy controls and 110 patients with acute basal ganglia hemorrhage, serum soluble SRA concentrations were detected.

Duct-to-mucosa versus other types of pancreaticojejunostomy for the prevention of postoperative pancreatic fistula following pancreaticoduodenectomy.

Background: Postoperative pancreatic fistula is a common and serious complication following pancreaticoduodenectomy. Duct-to-mucosa pancreaticojejunostomy has been used in many centers to reconstruct pancreatic digestive continuity following pancreatoduodenectomy, however, its efficacy and safety are uncertain.

Objectives: To assess the benefits and harms of duct-to-mucosa pancreaticojejunostomy versus other types of pancreaticojejunostomy for the reconstruction of pancreatic digestive continuity in participants undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy, and to compare the effects of different duct-to-mucosa pancreaticojejunostomy techniques.

Prognostic value of the combination of GRACE risk score and mean platelet volume to lymphocyte count ratio in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction after percutaneous coronary intervention.

The Global Registry of Acute Coronary Events (GRACE) risk score and the mean platelet volume to lymphocyte count ratio (MPVLR) can be used independently to predict adverse outcomes in patients with acute coronary syndromes. However, the level of MPVLR in relation to the GRACE score, and whether a combination of these methods can better predict the clinical adverse outcome of patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), have not been previously examined. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate whether the combination of GRACE risk score and MPVLR is a good predictor of a 30-day major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in patients with STEMI.

Prognostic Value of Pre-Infarction Angina Combined with Mean Platelet Volume to Lymphocyte Count Ratio for No-Reflow and Short-Term Mortality in Patients with ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention.

BACKGROUND The aim of the present study was to investigate the clinical predictive value of pre-infarction angina (PIA) combined with mean platelet volume to lymphocyte count ratio (MPVLR) for no-reflow phenomenon and short-term mortality in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). MATERIAL AND METHODS A total of 1009 STEMI patients who had undergone PCI were enrolled and subdivided into 4 groups based on the occurrence of PIA and the presence of MPVLR above or below the cutoff value. Analysis of the predictors of the no-reflow phenomenon and 90-day mortality was conducted.

Treatment with olaparib monotherapy for BRCA2-mutated refractory intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma: a case report.

Olaparib is an oral poly ADP-ribose polymerase inhibitor with activity in germline BRCA1 and BRCA2 (BRCA1/2)-associated breast and ovarian cancers. There is no report about treatment with olaparib in BRCA1/2-mutated intrahepatic cholangiocarcinomas. This study is to observe the efficacy and safety of olaparib monotherapy in the refractory BRCA1/2-mutant intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) patient.

Frailty transitions and types of death in Chinese older adults: a population-based cohort study.

Background: Little is known about the adverse effects of frailty transitions. In this study, we aimed to characterize the transitions between frailty states and examine their associations with the type of death among older adults in China, a developing country with a rapidly growing aging population.

Methods: We used data of 11,165 older adults (aged 65-99 years) from the 2002 and 2005 waves of the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (CLHLS).

Effects of sucrose ester structures on liposome-mediated gene delivery.

Unlabelled: Sucrose esters (SEs) have great potential applications in gene delivery because of their low toxicity, excellent biocompatibility, and biodegradability. By using tripeptide-based lipid (CDO) as a model lipid and SEs as helper lipids, a series of liposomes were prepared. The SEs with hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) values of 1, 6, 11, or 16 and the fatty acids of laurate, stearate, or oleate were used in the liposomes.
