Abiraterone acetate is approved for the treatment of castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC); however, its effects vary. An accurate prediction model to identify patient groups that will benefit from abiraterone treatment is therefore urgently required. The Chi model exhibits a good profile for risk classification, although its utility for the chemotherapy-naive group is unclear.

The aims of this study are to analyze the association of microRNA-141 (miR-141) with the clinicopathological parameters of bladder cancer and evaluate the value of miR-141 in predicting the prognosis of bladder cancer. In this study, 114 patients with bladder cancer were enrolled in the study, and tissue specimens were obtained from the tumor zone and from adjacent normal area. miR-141 expression was determined using SYRB Green quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction assay and was further correlated with patients' clinicopathological parameters and the follow-up data.

Objective: To compare docetaxel plus prednisone with mitoxantrone plus prednisone as first-line chemotherapy for metastatic hormone-refractory prostate cancer (mHRPC).

Methods: From January 2007 through August 2010, 62 patients with mHRPC received 5 mg of prednisone twice daily were randomly assigned to receive mitoxantrone 12 mg/m² every three weeks (group A) or 75 mg/m² every three weeks (group B). The cycles of each regimen were less than 10 times.

Purpose: To create a preoperative prediction model for estimating the risk of non-organ-confined (pT3-4 or pN+) bladder urothelial cancer (NOC-BUC) in patients with clinically OC-BUC (cT1-2N0M0).

Methods: The study involved 248 consecutive patients who had undergone radical surgery for clinically OC-BUC at a tertiary cancer center between 2003 and 2011. Logistic regression analysis was used to develop a prediction model for estimating the risk of pathological NOC disease.
