Objective: To investigate the association between chronic headache outcome and aneurysmal wall enhancement (AWE) on high-resolution vessel wall imaging (HR-VWI) in patients with unruptured intracranial aneurysms (UIAs) who underwent microsurgical clipping.
Methods: Two hundred seventy-four UIA patients were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were grouped according to presence of AWE.
Background: To date, few data are available on the cognitive function of patients with vestibular schwannoma (VS) before treatment.
Objective: To provide a cognitive profile of patients with VS.
Methods: This cross-sectional observational study recruited 75 patients with an untreated VS and 60 age-, sex-, and education-matched healthy control subjects.
Background: MR vascular wall imaging (VWI) may have prognostic value in patients with unruptured intracranial aneurysms (UIAs).
Objective: To evaluate the value of VWI as a predictor of surgical outcome in patients with UIAs.
Methods: This prospective cohort study evaluated surgical outcomes in consecutive patients with UIAs who underwent surgical clipping at a single center.
Background: Optimal treatment of patients with high Spetzler-Martin (S-M) grade brain arteriovenous malformations (BAVMs) remains controversial. Few studies have investigated outcomes in such patients treated in a hybrid operating room (hOR).
Objective: To examine outcomes of one-stop hybrid BAVM treatment in patients with high-grade lesions.
Objective: The authors aimed to evaluate the clinical features, endovascular strategy selection, and outcomes of vertebral artery (VA) dissecting aneurysms (VADAs) near the origin of the posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA).
Methods: Clinical data were obtained from 196 patients with 202 VADAs who had been surgically treated at the authors' hospital between 2005 and 2021. The patients' medical records, imaging data, and follow-up outcomes were retrospectively analyzed.
Neuroimaging studies have identified alterations in functional connectivity between specific brain regions in patients with unilateral hearing loss (UHL) and different influence of the side of UHL on neural plasticity. However, little is known about changes of whole-brain functional networks in patients with UHL and whether differences exist in topological organization between right-sided UHL (RUHL) and left-sided UHL (LUHL). To address this issue, we employed resting-state fMRI (rs-fMRI) and graph-theoretical approaches to investigate the topological alterations of brain functional connectomes in patients with RUHL and LUHL.

Objective: Endothelial cell inflammation is a common pathophysiological process in many cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Small RNA is a kind of short nonprotein coding RNA molecule. Changes in the small RNA expression in endothelial cells have been linked to the development of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

Previous studies in mild TBI (mTBI) have been controversial in describing the white matter tract integrity changes occurring at acute and subacute post-injury. In this prospective longitudinal study, we aim to investigate the longitudinal changes of white matter (WM) using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and their correlations with neuropsychological tests.

The objective of this study was to estimate the role of sex in intrinsic functional connectivity after acute mild TBI. We recruited a cohort of 54 patients (27 males and 27 females with mild TBI within 7 days post-injury) from the emergency department (ED) and 34 age-, education-matched healthy controls (HCs; 17 males and 17 females).

View Article and Find Full Text PDFMild traumatic brain injury (mild TBI) is associated with dysfunctional brain network and accumulating evidence is pointing to the caudate as a vulnerable hub region. However, little is known about the longitudinal changes in the caudate-based resting-state functional connectivity following mild TBI. In the current study, 50 patients with mild TBI received resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging as well as neuropsychological assessments within 7 days post-injury (acute phase) and 1 month later (subacute phase).

Rationale: Blunt cerebrovascular injury (BCVI) is a rare complication that may occur after craniocervical trauma. The current literature is limited to extracranial carotid artery injuries; however, no reports have been published on blunt intracranial carotid injury (BICI), especially those associated with optic nerve injury.
Patient Concerns: Here we report on 3 BICI cases that demonstrated optic nerve injuries after craniofacial injuries.

Purpose: The sonic hedgehog (SHH) signalling pathway plays the important role in medulloblastoma (MB). Altered GLI expression plays a key role in these processes, and the inhibition of GLI may be a good cancer-targeted therapy. This study aimed to investigate whether GANT61, a GLI inhibitor, may inhibit the SHH signalling pathway promoting cell mitochondria-mediated apoptosis and enhance cisplatin apoptosis antineoplastic therapy.
