Objective: To assess the effect of transarterial embolization (TAE) for adhesive capsulitis (AC) by evaluating clinical outcomes and changes in inflammation using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Materials And Methods: Patients who had undergone TAE between August 2020 and August 2023 for AC refractory to conservative treatments without any invasive procedures for more than 3 months, and had undergone baseline and 3-month post-AC follow-up contrast-enhanced MRI evaluations, were included. A suspension mixture of 500 mg imipenem/cilastatin in 10 mL of iodinated contrast agent was used for TAE.

Article Synopsis
  • Transarterial microembolization (TAME) is a new, minimally invasive treatment for chronic musculoskeletal pain that is gaining traction, though it comes with potential risks due to limited knowledge of important arterial anatomy.
  • The article discusses various challenges and complications encountered during and after the TAME procedure, supported by multi-center case studies and literature reviews.
  • It also offers strategies for prevention, management, and follow-up to help interventional radiologists improve their skills and enhance recovery outcomes for patients.

Background: Right-sided ligamentum teres (RSLT) is often associated with portal venous anomalies (PVA) and is regarded as a concerning feature for hepatobiliary intervention. Most studies consider RSLT to be one of the causes of left-sided gallbladder (LGB), leading to the hypothesis that LGB must always be present with RSLT. However, some cases have shown that right-sided gallbladder (RGB) can also be present in livers with RSLT.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on predicting the treatment response in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) using radiomic features from pre-treatment MRIs, potentially allowing some patients to avoid surgery if they achieve a pathological complete response (pCR).
  • Researchers analyzed MRI data from 133 LARC patients, extracting 1,223 radiomic features and identifying key predictors of pCR using advanced statistical methods like Lasso regression.
  • The results showed that specific image-derived features, particularly texture characteristics, demonstrated strong predictive power, achieving an area under the receiver operating characteristic (AUROC) score of 0.86 for classification accuracy.

Article Synopsis
  • Right-sided ligamentum teres (RSLT) hepatis is a rare anatomical variant linked to the fetal umbilical vein's connection with the right trunk of the portal vein, requiring attention from surgeons due to its association with vascular and biliary anomalies.
  • There’s controversy surrounding the relationship between RSLT and gallbladder positioning, with some studies suggesting that presence of RSLT indicates a left-sided gallbladder, but new cases reported indicate this isn’t always the case.
  • Awareness of these anomalies is critical before surgical interventions, as ignoring them can lead to severe complications; therefore, thorough imaging studies are essential for diagnosis.

Article Synopsis
  • * Key risk factors identified included higher levels of neuroticism, lower extraversion, and issues related to parental relationships, particularly maternal overprotection.
  • * The findings suggest that military training can trigger hyperventilation syndrome, highlighting the need for further research on the roles of competing risk factors and mediating effects in this condition.
