Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) significantly impacts cattle worldwide, causing respiratory, gastrointestinal, and reproductive disorders that lead to substantial economic losses. Despite its high global prevalence and various genotypes, the infection status of BVDV in Taiwan has not been reported. This study conducted large-scale surveillance in 2014, analyzing 460 bovine serum samples collected from 49 dairy herds across Taiwan.

Background: Sacubitril/valsartan (S/V) reduces mortality and hospitalization rates in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF), but low adherence remains a challenge. Early initiation of S/V is recommended, yet no practical tool currently exists to effectively communicate its benefits to outpatients or assess patient stability before S/V initiation during hospitalization.

Methods: We collected data retrospectively from 527 HFrEF patients who started S/V between March 2017 and January 2020 at the National Taiwan University Hospital, with follow-up through September 2022.

Approach: A retrospective in-house sinogram dataset of 100 low-dose chest CT scans was reconstructed by varying radiation dose (100%, 25%, 10%) and reconstruction kernels (smooth, medium, sharp). In this paper, we demonstrated a novel bidirectional high-speed transmission system integrating a free-space optical (FSO) communication with a 5G wireless link, utilizing a high-power erbium-doped fibre amplifier (EDFA) for enhanced loss compensation. The system supports downlink rates of 1-Gb/s/4.5-GHz and 10-Gb/s at 24-GHz and 39-GHz, and an uplink rate of 10-Gb/s/28-GHz.

Relative free energy (RFE) calculations are now widely used in academia and the industry, but their accuracy is often limited by poor sampling of the complexes' conformational ensemble. To help address conformational sampling problems when simulating many relative binding free energies, we developed a novel method termed multiple topology replica exchange of expanded ensembles (MT-REXEE). This method enables parallel expanded ensemble calculations, facilitating iterative RFE computations while allowing conformational exchange between parallel transformations.

The Jun dimerization protein (Jdp2) gene is active in mouse cerebellar granule cells and its protein product plays a crucial role in the formation of the cerebellum lobes through programmed cell death. However, the role of Jdp2 in cellular differentiation and pluripotency in the cerebellum, and the effect of the antioxidation reaction on cell plasticity, remain unknown. N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) induced the early commitment of the differentiation of granule cell precursors (GCPs) to neurons, especially Purkinje cells, via the γ-aminobutyric acid type A receptor α6 subunit (Gabra6) axis; moreover, Jdp2 depletion enhanced this differentiation program of GCPs.
