Trophoblast cell surface antigen 2 (TROP2) is highly expressed in multiple cancers relative to normal tissues, supporting its role as a target for cancer therapy. OBI-992 is an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) derived from a novel TROP2-targeted antibody linked to the topoisomerase 1 (TOP1) inhibitor exatecan via an enzyme-cleavable hydrophilic linker, with a drug-antibody ratio of 4. This study evaluated and compared the antitumor activity of OBI-992 with that of benchmark TROP2-targeted ADCs datopotamab deruxtecan (Dato-DXd) and sacituzumab govitecan (SG) in cell line-derived xenograft (CDX) and patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models.

Article Synopsis
  • The TRPM8 ion channel is important for regulating inflammation and pain perception, but its role in electroacupuncture (EA) as a pain relief method is not well understood.
  • EA effectively reduces mechanical pain sensitivity in mice with induced inflammatory pain, with different responses observed between wild-type and TRPM8-deficient mice.
  • The study findings indicate that while EA activates both opioid and cannabinoid pathways for pain relief, TRPM8 is essential for the opioid pathway's effectiveness; inhibiting TRPM8 shifts reliance to the cannabinoid system for analgesia.

  • * Among patients on 1st or 2nd generation TKIs, those with a higher PLR (≥ 180) had a significantly shorter median progression-free survival (PFS) compared to those with a lower PLR (< 180).
  • * The findings suggest that while PLR is a useful predictor for traditional TKIs, it may be less relevant for the third generation TKI, osimertinib, which showed different impacts on blood cell counts and patient outcomes.

Introduction: The prognostic utility of laboratory markers in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) harboring mutations treated with tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) is an ongoing area of research. The utility of the platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) in patients treated with osimertinib is undetermined.

Methods: 151 patients treated with TKIs in Los Angeles were grouped into one of two groups according to generation of TKI.

Non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains a leading cause of cancer mortality globally, though advances in targeted therapies have improved treatment outcomes. The mesenchymal-epithelial transition () gene plays a significant role in NSCLC, often through protein overexpression, exon 14 skipping mutations, and gene amplification, many of which arise as resistance mechanisms to other oncogenic drivers like epidermal growth factor receptor () mutations. This review examines the development and clinical efficacy of anti-MET antibody therapies.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates whether intensive blood pressure (BP) control can be safely achieved for patients with advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD) using remote monitoring and medication adjustment.
  • In a pilot randomized trial involving 108 patients with advanced CKD and hypertension, participants were assigned to either a lower target systolic BP (<120 mmHg) or a less intensive target.
  • Results showed that the intensive BP group achieved a significantly lower mean clinic systolic BP without a notable increase in safety risks, though the small sample size raises questions about the robustness of the findings.

Hayata is an endemic orchid that was once widely distributed across the mid-elevations of Taiwan. However, populations of this orchid have steadily shrunk due to orchid poaching in most of its habitats. By correlating data from micrometeorological stations that we installed in the cloud forest canopy at the study site, Yuanyang Lake (YYL) from 2017, we discovered the critical role of spring rainfall in triggering flowering and summer rainfall in promoting the growth of new bulbs.
