Hospitalist-run procedure teams enable expedited care in the inpatient setting. However, wait times for outpatient interventional radiology (IR) are long at our institution. Our study thus aims to compare the safety and wait times between procedural teams and IR placement of outpatient temporary hemodialysis catheters (THDC) for patients undergoing Chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy apheresis.

Single-atom catalysts exhibit superior CO -to-CO catalytic activity, but poor kinetics of proton-coupled electron transfer (PCET) steps still limit the overall performance toward the industrial scale. Here, we constructed a Fe-P atom paired catalyst onto nitrogen doped graphitic layer (Fe /PNG) to accelerate PCET step. Fe /PNG delivers an industrial CO current of 1 A with FE over 90 % at 2.

BACKGROUND Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) is a set of heterogenous disorders of thrombotic microangiopathy defined by thrombocytopenia, hemolytic anemia, and acute renal failure that is not mediated by shiga toxin. Factor Eight Inhibitor Bypassing Activity (FEIBA) is a concentrate of inactivated and activated coagulation factors that is approved for use to establish hemostasis in patients with hemophilia or acquired factor inhibitors. However, it has recently been used off-label as an anticoagulant reversal therapy among the general population.

Abnormal autonomic nervous system (ANS) function may result in poor outcomes in patients with schizophrenia. Altered cardio-respiratory coupling, which indicates suppression of vagal activity, was identified as an important trait in patients with schizophrenia and their unaffected relatives. Heart rate variability (HRV) in standardized bedside reflex tests has been studied, mostly in medicated patients with schizophrenia whose ANS function could be influenced by medication.

Studies on the cholesterol-serotonin hypothesis and its link to mood disorders are scarce. In addition, little is known about the association between cholesterol and the effects of tryptophan depletion (TD). The aim of the present study was to investigate the association between plasma cholesterol and changes in heart rate variability (HRV), an important marker of depression and anxiety, after TD.

Objective: Hospitalization of patients with delirium after visiting the emergency department (ED) is often required. However, the readmission risk after discharge from the ED should also be considered. This study aimed to explore whether (i) immediate hospitalization influences the readmission risk of patients with delirium; (ii) the readmission risk is affected by various risk factors; and (iii) the healthcare cost differs between groups within 28 days of the first ED visit.

Background: Animal studies have demonstrated that oxytocin can influence addiction behaviors and might interact with the dopaminergic system, which is a key component of addiction behaviors. However, related evidence from clinical studies is scarce. The aim of our study was to explore the relationship between plasma oxytocin level and heroin craving among patients receiving methadone maintenance treatment, and to ascertain whether this relationship is moderated by novelty-seeking.

High density linkage maps are useful tools for fine-scale mapping of quantitative trait loci, and characterization of the recombination landscape of a species' genome. Genomic resources for Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) include a well-assembled reference genome, and high density single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) arrays. Our aim was to create a high density linkage map, and to align it with the reference genome assembly.

Article Synopsis
  • The study explored how serotonin affects anxiety and the autonomic nervous system (ANS) functions in healthy individuals under tryptophan depletion (TD).
  • Twenty-eight participants completed anxiety assessments and ANS measurements before and after TD, which effectively reduced tryptophan levels in their blood.
  • Results showed an increase in sympathetic activity and a decrease in parasympathetic activity after TD, with significant correlations between anxiety levels and changes in ANS functions, highlighting serotonin's role in anxiety and heart rate variability.

In this study, the role of brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in stress resilience was investigated. With a focus on healthy subjects, we explored whether plasma BDNF levels are correlated with the dexamethasone suppression test (DST) and subjectively perceived social support status. Moreover, we examined the possible interacting effect of DST status and perceived social support on BDNF levels.

Understanding the relationship between genetic variants and traits of economic importance in aquaculture species is pertinent to selective breeding programmes. High-throughput sequencing technologies have enabled the discovery of large numbers of SNPs in Atlantic salmon, and high density SNP arrays now exist. A previous genome-wide association study (GWAS) using a high density SNP array (132K SNPs) has revealed the polygenic nature of early growth traits in salmon, but has also identified candidate SNPs showing suggestive associations with these traits.

In carbon nanotube films, the alignment of carbon nanotubes creates Lennard-Jones potentials at intertube junctions and trapped O2 appears to oscillate at elevated temperatures. Electrical measurements reveal a low hopping barrier along the transverse direction and an underlying mechanism that involves intercalated molecules acting as charge carriers between tubes. Ab initio calculations support dynamic intercalation and charge transfer through O2 bouncing between tubes.

Background: Performance and quality traits such as harvest weight, fillet weight and flesh color are of economic importance to the Atlantic salmon aquaculture industry. The genetic factors underlying these traits are of scientific and commercial interest. However, such traits are typically polygenic in nature, with the number and size of QTL likely to vary between studies and populations.
