A preliminary study of current situation and competences of doctoral nursing education in Taiwan: A multi-methods research design.

Aim: To explore the status and overall competency of Taiwan's doctoral nursing programs.

Background: Taiwan has 11 universities offer doctoral degree programs in nursing from 1997 to 2020. As the demand for educators of higher nursing education increases, whether the nursing talent requirements have been satisfactorily fulfilled.

An improved size exclusion-HPLC method for molecular size distribution analysis of immunoglobulin G using sodium perchlorate in the eluent.

Size exclusion (SE) high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is widely used for the molecular size distribution (MSD) analyses of various therapeutic proteins. We report development and validation of a SE-HPLC method for MSD analyses of immunoglobulin G (IgG) in products using a TSKgel SuperSW3000 column and eluting it with 0.4M NaClO, a chaotropic salt, in 40mM phosphate buffer, pH 6.

Protein Nitrogen Determination by Kjeldahl Digestion and Ion Chromatography.

We report development and validation of a simple, rapid, and accurate method for the quantitation of protein nitrogen, which combines Kjeldahl digestion and ion chromatography with suppressed conductivity detection and requires nanomolar amount of nitrogen in samples (≥10 μg protein). The mechanism of suppressed conductivity detection does not permit analysis of samples containing copper (present in Kjeldahl digestion solution) and aluminum (present in many vaccines as adjuvants) due to precipitation of their hydroxides within the suppressor. We overcame this problem by including 10 μM oxalic acid in Kjeldahl digests and in the eluent (30 mM methanesulfonic acid).

Traditional Chinese medicine perspective on constitution transformations in perinatal women: A prospective longitudinal study.

Background: Pregnancy is an important stage in life for many women. Humans are complex organisms that are prone to exhibiting gradual alterations in their constitutions that fluctuate with age, diet, and living environment. This is particularly true during the pre- and postnatal periods, in which qi and blood are required to ensure foetal growth.

[Shenghua soup: a study of the relationships among related knowledge, expected effectiveness, and consumption behavior in postpartum women].

Background: Women in Taiwan are concerned about postpartum personal healthcare, and over 90% consume Shenghua soup as part of their postpartum recovery regimen. However, knowledge regarding Shenghua soup is inadequate among this population. Therefore, the correlation between Shenghua soup knowledge and consumption behavior deserves further clarification.

Relationships among Constitution, Stress, and Discomfort in the First Trimester.

The purpose of this study was to explore correlations among constitution, stress, and discomfort symptoms during the first trimester of pregnancy. We adopted a descriptive and correlational research design and collected data from 261 pregnant women during their first trimester in southern Taiwan using structured questionnaires. Results showed that (1) stress was significantly and positively correlated with Yang-Xu, Yin-Xu, and Tan-Shi-Yu-Zhi constitutions, respectively; (2) Yin-Xu and Tan-Shi-Yu-Zhi constitutions had significant correlations with all symptoms of discomfort, while Yang-Xu had significant correlations with all symptoms of discomfort except for "running nose"; (3) Tan-Shi-Yu-Zhi constitution and stress were two indicators for "fatigue"; Tan-Shi-Yu-Zhi was the indicator for "nausea"; Yang-Xu and Yin-Xu were indicators for "frequent urination.

Determination of benzethonium chloride in anthrax vaccine adsorbed by HPLC.

A novel and sensitive HPLC method for the determination of benzethonium chloride (BZC) in anthrax vaccine was developed. Adjuvant Alhydrogel was removed by syringe filter after a simple sample pretreatment - acidification prior to injection. Chromatography was performed by isocratic reverse phase separation with methanol/262 mM ammonium acetate (80/20, v/v) on an endcapped C18 column with diode array detector (DAD).
