We present a 49-year-old female (gravida 3, para 2, abortion 1), who was identified as suffering from right hydronephrosis while undergoing her regular health examination. Retrograde pyelography demonstrated a partial obstruction of the right ureter in the distal third.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of hydronephrosis on the treatment outcome of patients with a solitary proximal ureteral stone after extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL). A total of 182 consecutive patients who underwent ESWL for a solitary proximal ureteral stone of between 5 and 20 mm in size in our institution were included in this study. A 66-year-old man, with a history of gastric signet ring cell carcinoma, was admitted due to intermittent dull pain in the left lower abdomen for 3 months. Left ureteral obstruction with suspicious tumor encasement and hydronephrosis was found on imaging studies. Endoscopic ureteral biopsy revealed infiltrating high-grade urothelial carcinoma.

The simultaneous occurrence of renal collecting duct (Bellini duct) carcinoma and bladder urothelial carcinoma is very rare. A 68-year-old female patient with bladder urothelial carcinoma first received transurethral resection of the tumor. Left side nephrouretectomy and transurethral resection of the intramural ureter were performed 8 months later under the diagnosis of concomitant renal pelvic urothelial carcinoma.

Actinomycosis is a rare, chronic suppurative infection caused by the Gram-positive anaerobic filamentous bacterium, Actinomyces israeli. In most cases, the diagnosis is made postoperatively because of its unusual clinical presentation. Abdominal actinomycosis is the second most common site of the disease and may mimic abdominal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease or diverticulitis.

We report a patient who was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease and who received renal transplantation in her right iliac fossa in 2003. After transplantation, right hydronephrosis was noted on abdominal ultrasonography and right lower ureteral stricture was diagnosed by antegrade pyelography. She received ureter internal stent insertion three times, but hydronephrosis and urinary tract infection recurred after the stent was removed.

Radical cystectomy with ileal conduit diversion remains the standard treatment for invasive bladder cancer. We report a patient with urothelial carcinoma of the urinary bladder and found metastasis to the orbit post radical cystectomy and ileal conduit diversion presenting as blurred vision and diagnosed by open biopsy. The orbit is an infrequent site of metastasis from bladder cancer cells.

We report a case of spontaneous perirenal hematoma in a patient who had histories of systemic lupus erythematosus, hypertension, and uremia with hemodialysis, and initially presented with non-specific flank pain.
