Onychomadesis in a COVID-19 patient.

We report the case of a 67-year-old woman who developed onychomadesis on 9 of her fingers 2 months after recovering from COVID-19, with subsequent full nail regrowth after 4 months. The development of onychomadesis in COVID-19 is probably related to inhibition of nail proliferation due to fever, direct viral damage, or an inflammatory process associated with endothelial damage and obliterative microangiopathy in the nail matrix area. Clinicians should be aware of nail changes and actively seek them out in patients with COVID-19.

Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of artificially elevated intra-abdominal pressure upon brain pial vessels condition and contractile reactivity of isolated rat arteria carotis communis and vena jugularis to norepinephrine and serotonin.

Implementation of Instrument Based on Eight Health Related Quality of Life Domains for Measuring of Willingness to Pay for Psoriasis Treatment.

Background: Psoriasis vulgaris (PsV) is a chronic skin condition that has a major impact on health-related quality of life (HRQOL).

Aim: To determine the individual burden of PsV on HRQOL using willingness to pay (WTP) instrument.

Materials And Methods: Fifty-one consecutive PsV patients were asked to evaluate their overall health and psoriasis affected health by visual analogue scale (VAS), and interviewed on 8 domains (physical, emotional, sleep, work, social, self-care, intimacy, and concentration) of HRQOL and WTP for a hypothetical cure in each domain.

Nailfold capillaroscopic changes in Kindler syndrome.

Kindler syndrome (KS), the fourth major type of hereditary epidermolysis bullosa (HEB), is a rare, autosomal recessive disorder characterized by skin fragility and blistering at birth followed by development of marked photosensitivity and progressive poikilodermatous skin changes in later years. We reported here the case of a 54-year-old woman, who fulfills the diagnostic criteria of KS type of HEB, putting accent on the nailfold capillaroscopic changes. Using videocapillaroscopy we observed pronounced alterations in finger nail capillaries including reduction in capillary density, features of neoangiogenesis (architectural derangement, elongated loops, extremely tortuous, bushy or branching capillaries, thin, branching and interconnected capillaries), enlarged and giant capillaries.

Cutaneous Leishmaniasis - Dermoscopic Findings And Cryotherapy.

We present a 60-year-old male patient who, three months after a holiday in Southern Greece, found a small 'pimple' on his back, which gradually got as big as a small walnut, the central part becoming ulcerated and scabby. Dermatological examination found an erythematous-to-livid nodular lesion on the right shoulder; it was 16 mm in diameter with central ulceration, covered with brownish crust which discharged pus-like secretion upon pressure. Microscope examination of Romanowsky-Giemsa stained lesion material detected amastigote forms of Leishmania tropica.

Tinea atypica: report of nine cases.

Fungal infections of the skin are a common condition, usually easy to diagnose and treat. When the infection is clinically mimicking another cutaneous disorder or when the clinical presentation is modified by the use of inappropriate treatment, it is referred to as tinea atypica or tinea incognito.We report a series of nine cases of patients with tinea atypica, imitating and diagnosed initially as different skin diseases.

A case of encephalocraniocutaneous lipomatosis syndrome with epilepsy (Haberland syndrome).

Encephalocraniocutaneous lipomatosis is a rare congenital neurocutaneous syndrome characterized by scalp, facial, and ocular lesions and multiple intracranial malformations. Approximately 50 cases have been described in the literature. We report a 34-year-old woman with a 6-year history of epilepsy, without mental retardation, with predominantly ipsilateral skin lesions evident at birth, with limbal lipodermoid of the left eye and multiple non-progressive, ipsilateral intracranial structures of soft, cystic components.

A case of rheumatoid arthritis presenting with postherpetic neuralgia and abdominal-wall pseudohernia.

Postherpetic neuralgia is a common complication, while the postherpetic abdominal-wall pseudohernia (AWP) is a quite rare complication of herpes zoster (HZ). We report a patient >45 years of age with a history of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who presented with two chronic HZ complications. A 75-year-old woman was admitted with neuralgia following cutaneous herpes zoster 6 weeks before.

Introduction: Nailfold skin capillaroscopy is a simple non-invasive method used to assess conditions of disturbed microcirculation such as Raynaud's phenomenon, acrocyanosis, perniones, connective tissue diseases, psoriasis, diabetes mellitus, neuropathy and vibration disease.

Aim: To develop data analysis software aimed at assisting the documentation and analysis of a capillaroscopic investigation. SOFTWARE DESCRIPTION: The programme is based on a modular principle.

A study of human skin mechanical properties by means of Cutometer.

Cutometer is a commercially available non-invasive suction skin elasticity meter. The present study discusses some aspects of the biological informativeness and interpretation of the results obtained in studying skin mechanical properties with cutometer. We analyze the results of previously published studies on the mechanical properties of healthy and diseased skins and their changes after external influences.
