Purpose Of The Study: The annual number of spinal fusion procedures has been increasing and is well documented worldwide. The O-arm is slowly becoming the standard for transpedicular screw insertion. The accuracy and safety of this method have been confirmed by many studies.

The exact length of implant is the subject of several studies. In our study, we retrospectively evaluated the treatment of B3 fractures of the ankylosed thoracolumbar spine with use a shorter versus longer implant, always with 8 screws.

Aims: To present a case of primary ventriculitis in a 53-year-old patient caused by Streptococcus intermedius, emphasizing the rarity of the condition and the challenges in achieving clinical improvement despite targeted therapy.
Methods: The patient underwent clinical evaluation, including CT and MRI imaging, as well as CSF analysis. Empirical antibiotic therapy was initiated with cefotaxime and metronidazole, followed by targeted therapy based on CSF culture results.

Background And Aim: Sinonasal tumors are a rare and heterogeneous group of malignant tumors with different histopathological characteristics and clinical presentation. These tumors are usually treated through surgery. The aim of this study is to present our results of surgical therapy in patients with an advanced sinonasal tumor.

Nevertheless, aneurysm residual and recurrence remain challenges after embolization. The objective of this study was to elucidate the portion of embolized aneurysms requiring open surgery and evaluate whether newer endovascular treatments have changed the need for open surgery after failed embolization.

With new approaches and intraoperative technologies, we can remove tumours once deemed inoperable. In our single centre, we have operated on 11 paediatric patients over the course of 8 years.

Introduction: Functioning pituitary adenomas lead to substantial morbidity and increased mortality associated with typical endocrine syndromes. Surgical therapy is an integral part of the management of these tumours. The aim of this study was to evaluate the results of surgical transnasal procedures in patients with functioning pituitary adenomas who underwent the surgery at the Department of Neurosurgery, University Hospital Olomouc.

Objective: The best results in glioblastoma (GBM) are obtained through aggressive treatment comprising maximally radical but safe resection followed by chemoradiotherapy. However, certain patients will undergo only stereotactic biopsy. This paper aims to evaluate life expectancy in GBM patients who underwent only stereotactic biopsy, including the effect of subsequent oncological treatment.

Objectives: To determine the prognostic potential of S100B protein in patients with craniocerebral injury, correlation between S100B protein and time, selected internal diseases, body habitus, polytrauma, and season.
Methods: We examined the levels of S100B protein in 124 patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Results: The S100B protein level 72 h after injury and changes over 72 h afterwards are statistically significant for prediction of a good clinical condition 1 month after injury.
PURPOSE OF THE STUDY Tranexamic acid as a haemostatic agent is commonly used in multiple medical branches. Over the last decade, there has been a steep rise in the number of studies evaluating its effect, i.e.

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY This article presents the evidence and the rationale for the recommendations for surgical treatment of degenerative lumbar stenosis (DLS) and spondylolisthesis that were recently developed as a part of the Czech Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) "The Surgical Treatment of the Degenerative Diseases of the Spine". MATERIAL AND METHODS The Guideline was drawn up in line with the Czech National Methodology of the CPG Development, which is based on the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) approach. We used an innovative GRADE-adolopment method that combines adoption and adaptation of the existing guidelines with de novo development of recommendations.

During the operation, a plastic object in the shape of a spectacle lens was found wedged in the left nasal passage, which we extracted. As subsequently established from the patient's documentation, it was a dislodged acrylic implant originally placed at the base of the orbit which was surgically treated after an injury to the facial skeleton thirty-five years ago.

Patients younger than 18 years old, diagnosed with increased ICP, and who had received dilated fundus examination between 2019 and 2021 were retrospectively reviewed. Factors including the patient's age, sex, aetiology, duration of signs or symptoms, intracranial pressure (ICP), and presence of papilledema were evaluated.

Several reports claim that reoperative surgery can improve survival, but the effects of reoperation timing on survival have rarely been investigated. We, therefore, evaluated the relationship between reoperation timing and survival in recurrent GBM.

Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is a beneficial procedure for treating idiopathic Parkinson's disease (PD), essential tremor, and dystonia. The authors describe their set of imaging modalities used for a frameless and fiducial-less method of DBS. CT and MRI scans are obtained preoperatively, and STN parcellation is done based on diffusion tractography.

This pain can be treated conservatively (by using analgesics, local injections, physiotherapy) or by surgical coccygectomy. In the presented article, a set of five female patients is evaluated, in whom, after the failing conservative therapy, coccygectomy was indicated for persistent coccygodynia.

The aim of our study was to use novel massively parallel sequencing (MPS) approaches to examine rare variants of IDH1/2 in Czech diffuse astrocytic and oligodendroglial tumors (gliomas) patients below 55 years of age who had been immunohistochemically (IHC) diagnosed as IDH1 R132H negative. The IHC IDH1 status (wild type or mutant) of 275 tissue samples was analyzed using antibodies against the IDH1 R132H protein.

The objective of the presented study was to evaluate sinonasal quality of life and assess the effect of chosen reconstruction of the cranial base on the final condition. 65 patients, 33 male and 32 female who underwent an endoscopic endonasal surgery due to sellar expansion, were included into this prospective study.

Background: Transsphenoid meningoencephalocele is a congenital anomaly formed by herniation of an ependyma delimited sac through a bony defect into the sphenoid sinus. The sac contains cerebrospinal fluid and neurovascular structures. The prevalence of transsphenoid meningoencephalocele in the adult population is rare.

The patients were treated in our hospital between June 2006 and June 2015. Clinical data and tumor samples were analyzed to determine the frequencies of TP53, MDM2, EGFR, RB1, BCR, and CCND1 gene aberrations and the duplication/deletion statuses of the 9p21.

Background: Stroke-like syndrome is defined as a rare, delayed complication of brain oncotherapy. Cases with more favorable brain cancer diagnoses and longer life expectancy have been previously reported, but here we present, for the first time, three long-term survivors of glioblastoma with stroke-like syndromes.
Methods And Results: Three young or middle-aged patients underwent tumor resection and chemoradiotherapy.
Background: Endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal approaches are broadly used nowadays for a vast spectrum of pathologies sited in the anterior and middle cranial fossa. The usage of neuronavigation systems (neuronavigation) in these surgeries is crucial for improving orientations deeply inside the skull and increasing patient safety.
Methods: The aim of this study was to assess the use of optical neuronavigation, together with an intraoperative O-arm O2 imaging system, in a group of patients with hypophyseal adenoma that underwent a transnasal transsphenoidal surgery, and correlate the accuracy and its deviation during the navigational process against the use of conventional neuronavigation that uses preoperative MRI and CT scans.
