Article Synopsis
- This study aimed to investigate the incidence and trends of cardiac events in young patients (aged 5-30) receiving psychopharmacological treatment in Sweden between 2006 and 2018.
- The results showed that out of over 875,000 exposed patients, there were 26,750 cardiac events, with a low overall mean annual incidence of 0.99%, but an upward trend of 4.26% each year, particularly among adolescent females and those on multiple medications.
- The findings suggest a need for more research into the potential links between psychopharmacological treatment and cardiac issues in this population.
