Intrinsically disordered proteins and regions (IDPs) are involved in vital biological processes. To understand the IDP function, often controlled by conformation, we need to find the link between sequence and conformation. We decode this link by integrating theory, simulation, and machine learning (ML) where sequence-dependent electrostatics is modeled analytically while nonelectrostatic interaction is extracted from simulations for many sequences and subsequently trained using ML.

The Australian culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities may be at higher risk of salt intake than recommended given the use of a combination of discretionary sources and exposure to processed foods within a western country. This survey aimed to understand the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors toward dietary salt and the acceptability of salt substitutes in the CALD communities. An online cross-sectional survey was conducted among adults who self-reported being a part of a CALD community, which was defined as non-Indigenous cultural groups in Australia having cultural or linguistic connections with their overseas place of birth, ancestry or ethnic origin, religion, preferred language or language spoken at home.

Background: Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) accounts for >50% of heart failure cases and is associated with significant morbidity and health system burden. To date, there have been limited treatment options proven to improve outcomes in these patients, with sodium glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors the first class of drug to demonstrate significant clinical benefits, including reductions in heart failure hospitalisation. Obesity is associated with all forms of heart failure and has been linked with worse clinical outcomes.

Due to their highly exposed active sites and high aspect ratio caused by their substantial lateral dimension and thin thickness, two-dimensional (2D) metal-organic framework (MOF) nanosheets are currently considered a potential hybrid material for electrochemical sensing. Herein, we present a nickel-based porphyrinic MOF nanosheet as a versatile and robust platform with an enhanced electrochemical detection performance. It is important to note that the nickel porphyrin ligand reacted with Cu(NO)·3HO in a solvothermal process, with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) acting as the surfactant to control the anisotropic development of creating a 2D Cu-TCPP(Ni) MOF nanosheet structure.

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services imparts financial penalties for central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs) and other healthcare-acquired infections. Data for this purpose is obtained from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)'s National Health Safety Network. We present examples of misclassification of bloodstream infections into CLABSI by the CDC's definition and present the financial implications of such misclassification and potential long-term implications.

Aim: To assess the effects of canagliflozin on clinical outcomes and intermediate markers across population-specific body mass index (BMI) categories in the CANVAS Program and CREDENCE trial.

Methods: Individual participant data were pooled and analysed in subgroups according to population-specific BMI. The main outcomes of interest were: major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE, a composite of nonfatal myocardial infarction, nonfatal stroke or cardiovascular death); composite renal outcome; and changes in systolic blood pressure (SBP), body weight, albuminuria and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) slope.

Objective: Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) is an evidence-based approach to identifying and addressing alcohol use in non-specialty settings. Many medical schools teach SBIRT, but most published evaluations of these efforts exclude rigorous skill assessments and teaching methods.

Methods: During the 2017-2018 academic year, 146 third-year medical students received classroom-based learning on SBIRT and motivational interviewing (MI) and at least two SBIRT practices with feedback as part of a 4-week psychiatry clerkship.

The personal, political, and aesthetic ideals that Irish modernists found embodied in the figure of Charles Stewart Parnell-independence, self-mastery, and a capacity for radical self-fashioning-have been well attested in Irish literary historiography. What has been less often noted is the centrality of sexual health to the conception, articulation, and emulation of those virtues, particularly when attempting to translate Parnell's public persona to the stage. This essay addresses this lacuna by tracing how a medicalized and politicized conception of sex informed Irish modernist efforts to dramatize the Parnell myth at the Abbey Theatre.

Ribosome stalls can result in ribosome collisions that elicit quality control responses, one function of which is to prevent ribosome frameshifting, an activity that entails the interaction of the conserved yeast protein Mbf1 with uS3 on colliding ribosomes. However, the full spectrum of factors that mediate frameshifting during ribosome collisions is unknown. Background: Despite the increasing use of mobile health (mHealth) services, such as mHealth apps or SMS text messaging services, that support the patient self-management of chronic conditions, many existing mHealth services lack theoretical guidance. In addition, although often the target audience for requirement acquisition at the initial mHealth app design stage, it is a common challenge for them to fully conceptualize their needs for mHealth services that help self-manage chronic conditions.
