OA plays a crucial role in the treatment of several cancers, but poor water solubility, low permeability, and significant efflux have limited its widespread clinical use. Vitamin E-d-α-tocopheryl polyethylene glycol succinate (vitamin E-TPGS) and Pluronic P105 were used to improve the solubility and permeability and to decrease the efflux of OA.

Materials And Methods: In the present study, 8 months old amyloid precursor protein/presenilin 1 (APP/PS1) mice (a moderate pathology phase) were given the green tea catechin (-)-epicatechin delivered orally in the drinking water (50 mg/kg daily), along with treadmill exercise for 4 months, in order to investigate whether the combination can ameliorate the cognitive loss and delay the progression of AD in APP/PS1 transgenic (Tg) mice.
Results: At termination, untreated-Tg mice showed elevated soluble amyloid-β (Aβ1-40) and Aβ1-42 levels and deficits in spatial learning and memory, compared with their wild-type littermates.
Because of unhealthy lifestyles, a large number of people are suffering from hepatic lipid accumulation and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. Energy restriction (ER) is an effective nutritional intervention for preventing chronic disease. However, poor compliance with continuous ER limits its effectiveness.

The biggest challenge for the treatment of multidrug resistant cancer is to deliver a high concentration of anticancer drugs to cancer cells. Icariside II is a flavonoid from Epimedium koreanum Nakai with remarkable anticancer properties, but poor solubility and significant efflux from cancer cells limited its clinical use. In our previous study, a self-assembled mixture of micelles (TPGS-Icariside II-phospholipid complex) was successfully constructed, which could substantially increase the solubility of Icariside II and inhibit the efflux on Caco-2 cells.

We investigated whether the addition of Epimedium koreanum Nakai extract (EEF) to gefitinib could overcome the resistance of NSCLC cells to gefitinib. In our study, the growth inhibitory effects of cotreatment differed between mutant EGFR and wild type EGFR.

Objective: Observe the effects of Goutengsan on SOD, MAO-B, GSH-PX, NO, LDH, index of brain, rate of death and so on in rats to study therapeutic effects and mechanism of Goutengsan on Alzheimer dementia (AD) model.
Method: One hundred and twenty rats were randomly divided into 6 groups, 3 experimental groups of which were daily administrated with Goutengsan extract whereas the model and control groups were given NS (0.01 mL x g(-1)).
Elevated levels of B cell-activating factor of the TNF family (BlyS) have been implicated in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases in human. Removal of pathogenic B lymphocytes by decoy receptors has demonstrated clinical benefit in both oncological and immunological diseases. In this report, we have constructed vectors for the convenient and rapid expression of the extracellular domain of BR3(sBR3) fused to the Fc fragment (hinge, CH2, CH3) of human IgG1 in the methylotrophic yeast, Pichia pastoris.
