Objective: The oblique sagittal orientation of the cervical neural foramina hinders the evaluation of cervical neural foraminal stenosis (CNFS) on traditional axial and sagittal slices. Traditional image reconstruction techniques to generate oblique slices provide only a view of the foramina unilaterally. We present a method for achieving high fidelity state preparation and measurement (SPAM) using trapped ion hyperfine qubits with nuclear spins higher than I=1/2. The ground states of these higher nuclear spin isotopes do not afford a simple frequency-selective state preparation scheme. We circumvent this limitation by stroboscopically driving strong and weak transitions, blending fast optical pumping using dipole transitions, and narrow microwave or optical quadrupole transitions.

Evaluation of gastrointestinal (GI) biopsies is a multistep process that includes reviewing an appropriate history, determining sample quality, and evaluating histologic sections. Selected diagnostic parameters that, in combination with intestinal histopathology, can be useful to localize disease to the intestinal tract in the horse include hypoproteinemia and hypoalbuminemia, ultrasound evidence of increased thickness of the small intestinal wall, and alterations in glucose or D-xylose absorption tests. The aim of this study was to assess the performance of simultaneous PET/MR imaging versus MR imaging in the evaluation of posttreatment head and neck malignancies, as determined by its ability to predict locoregional recurrence or progression after imaging.

Treatment of aneurysms has evolved significantly, with the introduction of new techniques and devices for minimally invasive and endovascular approaches. The intestinal microbiota is a critical component of mucosal health as evidenced by the fact that alterations in the taxonomic composition of the gastrointestinal microbiota are associated with inflammatory bowel diseases. To better understand how the progression of inflammation impacts the composition of the gastrointestinal microbiota, we used culture independent taxonomic profiling to identify temporal changes in the cecal microbiota of C3Bir IL-10 mice concomitantly with the onset and progression of colitis. This analysis revealed that IL-10 mice displayed a biphasic progression in disease severity, as evidenced by histopathological scores and cytokine production.
