Iron oxide nanoparticles alleviate arsenic phytotoxicity in rice by improving iron uptake, oxidative stress tolerance and diminishing arsenic accumulation.

The food chain contaminated with arsenic (As) has developed a hazardous threat to the growth and development of plants, animals and humans. The present study was conducted to examine the application of iron oxide nanoparticles (FeNPs) on biochemical and molecular traits of roots and leaves of rice plants under As phytotoxicity. The results showed that As reduced the accumulation of Fe in roots and leaves and thus reduced photosynthetic pigments and growth of rice plants.
