Degenerative cervical myelopathy (DCM) represents the final consequence of a series of degenerative changes in the cervical spine, resulting in cervical spinal canal stenosis and mechanical stress on the cervical spinal cord. This process leads to subsequent pathophysiological processes in the spinal cord tissues. The primary mechanism of injury is degenerative compression of the cervical spinal cord, detectable by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), serving as a hallmark for diagnosing DCM.

People giving birth report overwhelmingly positive experiences with nursing students acting as doulas. However, no programs report on improving diversity among students, pregnant people, and curricula. This article describes the Interdisciplinary Doula Project, a program to enhance diverse perspectives and clinical skills of university students.

Traditionally, yeast strain's abilities during beer fermentation are described according to brewer's experiences. Hence, these descriptions could be inaccurate and strictly based on sensory experiences.

The first indication of migrastatics potential is based on an inhibition of enhanced migration of tumor cell lines.

Under iron catalysis, a hydroxylamine-derived triflic acid salt oxidizes phosphines to a wide range of iminophosphorane triflic acid salts. Diphosphines afford phosphine-iminophosphoranes that can serve as ligands in transition metal complexes.

The speed with which enterprises can apply a change in the context of data integration and historicization affects their business. This article presents the possibilities of implementing the integration of control processes using modern technologies that will enable the adaptation of production lines.

Methods: We combined 2 independent searches of MEDLINE, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library from 2015 to 2019.

There is great evidence to support improved maternal and neonatal outcomes when a patient delivers in a center that is suited to the needs of both the birthing person and the fetus. As rural centers have closed, access remains challenging. This manuscript examines The Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) challenges, needs of rural hospitals including education, and elaborates further upon the need to expand maternal transport in rural areas to improve outcomes in the future.

Background: Degenerative cervical spinal cord compression is becoming increasingly prevalent, yet the MRI criteria that define compression are vague, and vary between studies. This contribution addresses the detection of compression by means of the Spinal Cord Toolbox (SCT) and assesses the variability of the morphometric parameters extracted with it.
Methods: Prospective cross-sectional study.
Today, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) devices are very often used to collect manufacturing process data. The integration of industrial data is increasingly being promoted by the Open Platform Communications United Architecture (OPC UA). However, available IIoT devices are limited by the features they provide; therefore, we decided to design an IIoT device taking advantage of the benefits arising from OPC UA.

Model checkers provide algorithms for proving that a mathematical model of a system satisfies a given specification. In case of a violation, a counterexample that shows the erroneous behavior is returned. Understanding these counterexamples is challenging, especially for hyperproperty specifications, i.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFDegenerative cervical myelopathy (DCM) is a severe consequence of degenerative cervical spinal cord (CSC) compression. The non-myelopathic stage of compression (NMDC) is highly prevalent and often progresses to disabling DCM. This study aims to disclose markers of progressive neurochemical alterations in NMDC and DCM by utilizing an approach based on state-of-the-art proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (H-MRS).
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground And Purpose: Non-myelopathic degenerative cervical spinal cord compression (NMDC) frequently occurs throughout aging and may progress to potentially irreversible degenerative cervical myelopathy (DCM). Whereas standard clinical magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and electrophysiological measures assess compression severity and neurological dysfunction, respectively, underlying microstructural deficits still have to be established in NMDC and DCM patients. The study aims to establish tract-specific diffusion MRI markers of electrophysiological deficits to predict the progression of asymptomatic NMDC to symptomatic DCM.

Matrix visualizations are a useful tool to provide a general overview of a graph's structure. For multivariate graphs, a remaining challenge is to cope with the attributes that are associated with nodes and edges. Addressing this challenge, we propose responsive matrix cells as a focus+context approach for embedding additional interactive views into a matrix.

Objectives: There has been an increase in Caesarean section rates in many developed countries with maternal request frequently being cited as a reason. There are few studies examining African women's preference for mode of delivery. The objectives this study were to determine women's preference for mode of delivery in a low risk population to describe the major reasons for their preferences.

Smart devices along with sensors are gaining in popularity with the promise of making life easier for the owner. As the number of sensors in an Internet of Things (IoT) system grows, a question arises as to whether the transmission between the sensors and the IoT devices is reliable and whether the user receives alerts correctly and in a timely manner. Increased deployment of IoT devices with sensors increases possible safety risks.

Myotonia severity was expressed as relaxation time after voluntary contraction and as a patient-reported outcome using the Czech version of the Myotonia Behavior Scale. The patient was being treated for a flare of ulcerative colitis, starting with 32 mg of methylprednisolone and reducing the dose by 4 mg a week.

To delay the spread, health screening stations may be set up at airport terminals to screen travelers. This research tested three different health screening strategies, each with a different combination of screening stations at trip origins, destinations and connecting airports.

Methods: A commercially available dynamometer was used for all measurements. The relaxation time after voluntary contraction was measured in 20 patients with DM1, 25 patients with DM2, and 35 healthy controls.
