The condyle is one of the major components of a functional temporomandibular joint. Reconstruction of large mandibular defects involving the condyle is a surgical challenge for oral and maxillofacial surgeons.

The development process and significance of the 3rd National Climate Change Adaptation Plan (2021-2025) of the Republic of Korea.

The Republic of Korea has developed its 3rd National Climate Change Adaptation Plan (2021-2025) through joint work between government departments in 2020. This follows the Framework Act on Low Carbon, Green Growth, which was enacted in 2010. In this paper, we presented the development process, main contents, significance, and limitations of the 3rd Adaptation Plan as a helpful case for the international community to consult in formulating their national adaptation plans.

Evolving Options in Management of Minimally Invasive Diverticular Disease: A Single Surgeon's Experience and Review of the Literature.

Esophageal thoracic diverticular disease is a rare condition resulting from multiple etiologies. Surgical management is recommended when symptomatic. Traditionally, a thoracotomy was considered the standard approach; however, the use of minimally invasive approaches has been associated with improved outcomes.

Small molecule inhibitors of trans-translation have broad-spectrum antibiotic activity.

The trans-translation pathway for protein tagging and ribosome release plays a critical role for viability and virulence in a wide range of pathogens but is not found in animals. To explore the use of trans-translation as a target for antibiotic development, a high-throughput screen and secondary screening assays were used to identify small molecule inhibitors of the pathway. Compounds that inhibited protein tagging and proteolysis of tagged proteins were recovered from the screen.

2,3-Diarylbenzopyran derivatives as a novel class of selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors.

A new series of cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) inhibitors with naturally occurring flavone as the main skeleton has been synthesized and their biological activities were evaluated for cyclooxygenase inhibitory activity. Rational structural modifications were applied to potent COX-2 inhibitors to obtain the desired pharmacokinetic profiles for improved oral anti-inflammatory activity.
