Purpose: Preoperative anemia increases postoperative morbidity, mortality, and the risk of allogeneic transfusion. This study aimed to explore the surface modification of deproteinized bovine bone using lithium-ion and evaluate its efficacy on osteogenesis improvement and critical-sized bone defect repair.
