Hybrid-feature based spherical quasi-conformal registration for AD-induced hippocampal surface morphological changes.

Background And Objective: Establishing accurate one-to-one morphological correspondence between different hippocampal surfaces is a solid foundation for the analysis of AD-induced hippocampal morphological changes. However, owing to the large variations between hippocampal surfaces, exiting registration work either fails to obtain the accurate matching of local and overall morphological features or does not preserve the bijectivity during parametric mapping. For this reason, this study proposes a hybrid-feature based spherical quasi-conformal registration (HSQR) method that can effectively maintain the diffeomorphic property while meeting the hybrid-feature matching constraints in the spherical parameter domain.

Case Summary: A 30-year-old male patient sought medical attention at Ganzhou People's Hospital after experiencing pain and vision loss in his left eye due to a nail wound on December 9, 2023. Diagnosis of penetrating injury caused by magnetic foreign body retention in the left eye and hospitalization for treatment.

WeChat Continuity Nursing on Postpartum Depression and Quality of Life in Primipara Undergoing Cesarean Delivery.

Objective: To assess the effectiveness of WeChat-based continuity nursing in reducing postpartum depression and improving the quality of life among primiparous women undergoing cesarean delivery.

Methods: A total of 200 patients who intended to undergo cesarean delivery in our hospital between January 2021 and January 2022 were recruited for this study, including 20 patients who refused to participate in the study and 30 patients who did not meet the criteria of this study for various reasons, and a total of 150 cases were finally included. All participants were assigned 1:1 into the control group and observation group according to the time of the first pregnancy test and the primiparous in the observation group were given WeChat continuity nursing, and the primiparous in the control group was given routine obstetric care.

Case Summary: A 76-year-old man presented with progressive limb weakness, muscle soreness, and acute kidney injury (AKI). He had been taking the anti-prostate cancer drug abiraterone for 14 mo and had added a RYR supplement 3 mo before symptom onset.

BACKGROUND This single-center study of 15 patients with chronic tension-type headache aimed to compare the cranio-cervical extensor muscles between patients with chronic tension-type headache and healthy individuals and to explore the relationship between changes in cranio-cervical extensor muscles and quality of life (QoL). MATERIAL AND METHODS We recruited 15 patients with chronic tension-type headache and 15 healthy individuals. Patients with chronic tension-type headache were diagnosed by 2 neurologists according to the diagnostic criteria in the International Classification of Headache Disorders, 3rd edition (ICHD-3).

The Piwi-interacting RNA (piRNA) pathway has been shown to be involved in the antiviral defense against RNA viruses, especially in mosquitoes, but its universality has been questioned. Here, we used the Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV) -infected silkworm as a model to explore the effects of the key factors of piRNA pathway, BmAgo3 and Siwi, on replication of a large DNA virus (belonging to the family of Baculoviridae). We demonstrated that BmAgo3 and Siwi could promote the replication of BmNPV through both overexpression and knockdown experiments in BmN cell lines and silkworm larvae.

Despite extensive research in recent decades, knowledge of the pathophysiology of depression in neural circuits remains limited. Recently, the lateral habenula (LHb) has been extensively reported to undergo a series of adaptive changes at multiple levels during the depression state. As a crucial relay in brain networks associated with emotion regulation, LHb receives excitatory or inhibitory projections from upstream brain regions related to stress and cognition and interacts with brain regions involved in emotion regulation.

Predicting willingness to donate blood based on machine learning: two blood donor recruitments during COVID-19 outbreaks.

Machine learning methods are a novel way to predict and rank donors' willingness to donate blood and to achieve precision recruitment, which can improve the recruitment efficiency and meet the challenge of blood shortage. We collected information about experienced blood donors via short message service (SMS) recruitment and developed 7 machine learning-based recruitment models using PyCharm-Python Environment and 13 features which were described as a method for ranking and predicting donors' intentions to donate blood with a floating number between 0 and 1. Performance of the prediction models was assessed by the Area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score in the full dataset, and by the accuracy in the four sub-datasets.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a highly malignant, fatal disease with a complex tumor microenvironment (TME) characterized by severe immunosuppression and malformed vascular structures, thus most advanced HCC patients do not respond well to current mainstream pharmacotherapy and T-cell-related immunotherapy. Therefore, an efficient immunovascular crosstalk modulation strategy may help combat HCC by reversing immunosuppression and vessel normalization, especially by reprogramming tumor associated macrophages (TAMs). In this study, tyrosine kinase inhibitor lenvatinib (Len) was loaded into mesoporous FeO (mFe) nanoparticles (NPs), and bovine serum albumin (BSA) was attached to the NP surface to produce a metallodrug (BSA-mFe@Len NPs).

Background: The diversification of follow-up ophthalmic imaging examination methods, and whether there are differences in clinical characteristics of VKH at the acute stage under different images. Our study aims to compare the imaging characteristics of the acute phase of Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease (VKH) under different fundus imaging methods to deepen clinical knowledge.

Methods: A retrospective case study was performed on fundus images of 62 eyes from 31 patients with acute phase VKH and a disease duration ≤2 months who were treated at Ganzhou People's Hospital from January 2013 to December 2020.
