Article Synopsis
  • Researchers developed a new type of hydrogen sulfide (HS) donor called sydnthiones, which allows for controlled release of HS in biological settings.
  • The study demonstrates the reactive capabilities of sydnthiones with strained alkynes (specifically dibenzoazacyclooctyne or DIBAC) and compares these reactions to other bioorthogonal pairs for selective labeling and drug release.
  • Findings reveal that pre-treating H9c2 cells with sydnthione and DIBAC significantly improves cell viability when exposed to the chemotherapeutic drug doxorubicin.

Lipids are intimately related to the unique flavor and nutritional values of goat milk. MicroRNAs (miRNA) participate in the regulation of various biological functions, including the synthesis and degradation of lipids. Several studies have shown that miR-103 is involved in the regulation of lipid metabolism, however, the molecular mechanism by which miR-103 regulates lipid metabolism in goat mammary gland is poorly understood.

MicroRNA-26 (miR-26a and miR-26b) plays a critical role in lipid metabolism, but its endogenous regulatory mechanism in fatty acid metabolism is not clear in goat mammary epithelial cells (GMECs). GMECs with the simultaneous knockout of miR-26a and miR-26b were obtained using the CRISPR/Cas9 system with four sgRNAs. In knockout GMECs, the contents of triglyceride, cholesterol, lipid droplets, and unsaturated fatty acid (UFA) were significantly reduced, and the expression of genes related to fatty acid metabolism was decreased, but the expression level of miR-26 target insulin-induced gene 1 () was significantly increased.
