5-fluorouracil (5-FU), a commonly utilized antitumor agent for the treatment of colon cancer, is linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. Antihistamines including astemizole (AST) have been reported to present cardiovascular toxicity; however, it remains unclear how 5-FU-mediated cardiotoxicity is affected by AST during the treatment of colon cancer. This study explored the role of AST in 5-FU-induced cardiotoxicity in colon cancer.

This study aimed to determine if elevated Systemic Immune-Inflammation Index (SII) can independently predict these risks and assess the impact of age and dual antiplatelet therapy on this association. We conducted a retrospective analysis of patients treated with FDs between February 2016 and August 2023, using blood samples taken within six days before surgery to calculate SII.

We developed a probabilistic method, PERT, for simultaneous inference of cell-specific replication and copy number states from single-cell whole genome sequencing (scWGS) data. We used PERT to investigate clone-specific RT and proliferation dynamics in >50,000 cells obtained from aneuploid and clonally heterogeneous cell lines, xenografts and primary cancers.

Yet, the mechanisms by which tumors evolve to drug resistant states remains largely unknown. To address this, we aimed to exploit clone-specific genomic structural variations by combining scaled single-cell whole genome sequencing with longitudinally collected cell-free DNA (cfDNA), enabling clonal tracking before, during and after treatment.

Here, we demonstrate that WGD is an ongoing mutational process in tumor evolution. Using single-cell whole-genome sequencing, we measured and modeled how WGD events are distributed across cellular populations within tumors and associated WGD dynamics with properties of genome diversification and phenotypic consequences of innate immunity.

We assess whether the size of the stent relative to that of the vessel (the stent-to-vessel diameter ratio, or SVR) may be predictive of the development of ISS after treatment with flow diverters.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed patients with unruptured intracranial aneurysms who underwent flow-diversion treatment using either the Pipeline or Tubridge embolization device from September 2018 to September 2022.
Objective: To assess the impact of multicomponent exercises on physical functions of frail elderly in communities, evaluating their effect on muscle strength, balance, and endurance, and their influence on quality of life.
Method: PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, and Web of Science were searched to collect relevant randomized controlled trials. The search cutoff date was January 24, 2024.

BP001 is a promising small molecule compound that has been specifically designed to target and degrade Bruton's tyrosine kinases (BTK), which is known to play a crucial role in lymphoma development. Macrophages are important immune cells in inflammation regulation and immune response. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effect of BP001 on RAW264.

Here we use amplification-free single-cell whole-genome sequencing (Direct Library Prep (DLP+)) to simultaneously assay mtDNA copy number and nuclear DNA (nuDNA) in 72,275 single cells derived from immortalized cell lines, patient-derived xenografts and primary human tumors. Cells typically contained thousands of mtDNA copies, but variation in mtDNA copy number was extensive and strongly associated with cell size.

Addressing this pressing issue demands concerted efforts on local and global scales to champion sustainable food production and foster environmental benefits. In 2015, a pivotal field experiment was conducted in the North China Plain, aiming to delineate the intricate balance between agricultural productivity and environmental stewardship.

However, the extent to which subclonal copy number alterations contribute to clone-specific phenotypes remains poorly understood. We develop TreeAlign, which computationally integrates independently sampled single-cell DNA and RNA sequencing data from the same cell population.

Preeclampsia is a leading cause of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality, and coagulation analysis in conjunction with clinical signs and symptoms are generally used for its diagnosis with limited efficacy. Sonoclot coagulation analyzer is effective in assessing coagulation function used during cerebral surgery and cardiovascular surgery.

Through the inspiration of karstification, a hierarchical layered double hydroxide (LDH) with funnel-like and cave-like structures (called Karst-LDH) is formed by the dissolution of acrylic acid/water solution. Meanwhile, the results of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) show that Karst-LDH has complicated and interconnected internal pipe networks.

Methods: Fifty-nine patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation who underwent placement of an LAA disc-like occluder (LAmbre; Lifetech Scientific) in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed. Patients who were found to have contrast agent entering the LAA at the 3-month postoperative CCTA examination underwent Hounsfield unit (HU) measurement of the LAA and construction of a three-dimensional (3D) model of the device for preliminary discernment between peri-device leakage (PDL) and EIS.
The low C/N ratio, high moisture content, and low porosity of food waste require the addition of bulking agents for adjustment during the composting process. However, the effect and mechanism of different bulking agents on the reduction of carbon and nitrogen losses are unclear. Therefore, this study conducted experiments to evaluate and clarify the differences in carbon and nitrogen transformation between sawdust, rice husk and wheat bran in food waste composting.

The TA element composed of five-layer stacked bandpass FSS units separated by small air gaps. Each FSS unit comprises a metallic octagon slot with a pair of varactor diodes loaded along the polarization direction.

To address this issue, there is a pressing need to develop suitable hydrogels that can promote the regeneration of diabetic wounds in clinical practice. In this study, we designed and fabricated a highly stretchable, adhesive, transparent, and antibacterial hydrogel through a one-pot radical polymerization of N-[Tris (hydroxymethyl) methyl] acrylamide (THMA) and acrylic acid (AA), and with chitosan and the antibiotic tobramycin as the dynamic physical crosslinkers.
