  • The study focused on the outcomes of penetrating keratoplasty (PK) surgeries over four years in a major eye hospital in Eastern China, analyzing graft failures categorized as early or late.
  • A total of 502 eyes were reviewed, with 93 cases of graft failure identified; factors linked to these failures included burns, inflammation, immune diseases, low donor endothelial cell density, and surgical complications.
  • Additionally, social factors such as education completion and marital status were found to negatively influence the risk of late graft failures, suggesting that both medical and social aspects play a role in post-surgery outcomes.
