Hail, a highly destructive weather phenomenon, necessitates critical identification and forecasting for the protection of human lives and properties. The identification and forecasting of hail are vital for ensuring human safety and safeguarding assets. This research proposes a deep learning algorithm named Dual Attention Module EfficientNet (DAM-EfficientNet), based on EfficientNet, for detecting hail weather conditions.

Background: Usenamine A (CHNO) is a newly developed, natural anticancer drug that reportedly exerts low toxicity. The therapeutic efficacy and underlying mechanisms of usenamine A in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) remain poorly understood. We aimed to explore the therapeutic effects and molecular mechanisms through which usenamine A inhibits LUAD tumorigenesis.

Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is the main cause of death globally. The present study investigated the prognostic value and functional verification of nucleophosmin (NPM1) in LUAD. LUAD and normal samples from The Cancer Genome Atlas were analyzed to identify whether NPM1 is associated with LUAD prognosis.

Kanamycin (KANA) residue in meat is particularly harmful to public health and there is an urgent need to establish a fast, accurate and low-cost method to determinate KANA in food quality control. In this paper, hemin-reduced graphene oxide-carboxylated multiwalled carbon nanotubes (hemin-rGO-cMWCNTs) were designed and prepared, and the characteristics of hemin-rGO-cMWCNTs are presented. After that, an aptamer/hemin-rGO-cMWCNTs sensor for determination of KANA was developed.

The properties, structure and water holding capacity of myosin were analyzed after incubated with myoglobin (Mb) hemin prosthetic group. The results revealed moderate oxidation of hemin prosthetic group could improve the solubility of myosin. Besides, it could stretch the protein structure and cross-link the molecules to form the soluble polymer.

Expansive soil is prone to cracks under a drying-wetting cycle environment, which brings many disasters to road engineering. The main purpose of this study is use coal gangue powder to improve expansive soil, in order to reduce its cracks and further explore its micro-pore mechanism. The drying-wetting cycles test is carried out on the soil sample, and the crack parameters of the soil sample are obtained by Matlab and Image J software.

Sex steroid hormones play an important role in mediating physiological responses and developmental processes through their receptors across all vertebrates. Chinese alligator (Alligator sinensis) is a critically endangered reptile species unique to China. In this study, we have cloned one of the sex steroid hormone receptor genes, androgen receptor (AR) from the brain of Chinese alligator for the first time.

Gastric cancer (GC) is the third leading cause of cancer-related mortality in China and worlwide; hence, the identification of GC-related genes is necessary for the development of effective treatment strategies. In this study, histone deacetylase 3 (HDAC3) was identified as the most significantly upregulated cancer-related gene in GC tissues by microarray. In accordance with this, HDAC3 expression was found to be upregulated in GC cell lines/tissues.

Objective: To screen the gene signature for distinguishing patients with high risks from those with low-risks for colon cancer recurrence and predicting their prognosis.

Methods: Five microarray datasets of colon cancer samples were collected from Gene Expression Omnibus database and one was obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). After preprocessing, data in GSE17537 were analyzed using the Linear Models for Microarray data (LIMMA) method to identify the differentially expressed genes (DEGs).

Wujingang region was taken as the study area to explore the relationship between landscape pattern and river water quality. Remote sensing image was interpreted and buffer zones were constructed, and then landscape patterns characterized by land-use patterns and five selected landscape metrics including Number of patches (NP), Area-weighted mean patch fractal dimension (FRAC _AM), Shannon's diversity index (SHDI), Shannon' s evenness index (SHEI), Contagion index (CONTAG) in each buffer zone were obtained. By employing the correlation analysis between the landscape pattern and river water quality, the results indicated that the river water quality was influenced by landscape pattern.
