Background: Recently, the neurite outgrowth inhibitor-B (Nogo-B) receptor has been reported as a novel candidate gene for Parkinson's disease (PD). Nogo-B receptors need to combine with soluble Nogo-B to exert their physiological function. However, little is known about the relationship between serum soluble Nogo-B and PD.

The most patients with silent brain infarction show no symptoms, but some have mild depression, vascular dementia and other symptoms that are easily overlooked. Silent brain infarction is one of the risk factors for symptomatic cerebral infarction, it can develop into symptomatic cerebral infarction placing a heavy burden on families and society.

Moreover, the mechanism of enzymatic treatment on the dispersion and film properties of CNF was speculated. The xylanase pretreatment facilitated the deconstruction of pulp into CNF via mechanical shearing and high-pressure homogenization, while the hemicellulose composition was preserved.

The present study aimed to evaluate the significance of peripheral blood neutrophils in the prognosis of HCC patients treated with sorafenib. A total of 464 patients with HCC were treated with sorafenib at Zhongshan Hospital (Shanghai, China) between January 1st, 2008 and December 31st, 2012, among which 120 patients were enrolled in the study.

In Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana), several stress-responsive SUMO conjugations are mediated mainly by the SUMO E3 ligase SIZ1. In this study, we observed a phenotype of hypersensitivity to excess copper in the siz1-2 and siz1-3 mutants.

To bridge the gap between greenhouse studies and field applications for phytoextraction, we used published data to examine the partitioning of heavy metals between plants and soil (defined as the bioconcentration factor). We compared the remediation ability of the Zn/Cd hyperaccumulators Thlaspi caerulescens and Arabidopsis halleri and the non-hyperaccumulators Nicotiana tabacum and Brassica juncea using a hierarchical linear model (HLM).

The expression of IRT3, a ZIP transporter, is higher in the Zn/cadmium (Cd) hyperaccumulator Arabidopsis halleri than is that of its ortholog in Arabidopsis thaliana, which implies a positive association of its expression with Zn accumulation in A. halleri.
