As shallow coal reserves continue to deplete rapidly, deep mining has become an unavoidable course of action. In the process of deep coal mining, affected by blasting, mining, and excavation, the coal-rock interface often encounters the action of compression-shear composite load. The interface crack directly affects the stability of the coal-rock structure.

Article Synopsis
  • GbIRL1 is identified as a member of the PCBER protein family and is a novel gene regulating lignin changes and flavonoid accumulation in Ginkgo biloba.
  • A cDNA of GbIRL1 was isolated, revealing a 1,203 bp length that encodes a protein of 306 amino acids, showing evolutionary homology with similar proteins in other gymnosperms.
  • GbIRL1 is expressed in Ginkgo tissues, particularly during stress conditions, and its activity appears to correlate with flavonoid biosynthesis, highlighting its potential role as a key enzyme in flavonoid accumulation.

The cinnamyl alcohol dehydrogenase (CAD) is a key enzyme in lignin biosynthesis as it catalyzes the final step in the synthesis of monolignols. A cDNA sequence encoding the CAD gene was isolated from the leaves of Ginkgo biloba L, designated as GbCAD1. The full-length cDNA of GbCAD1 was 1,494 bp containing a 1,074 bp open reading frame encoding a polypeptide of 357 amino acids with a calculated molecular mass of 38.

Heat shock proteins (HSPs) play various stress-protective roles in plants. In this study, three HSP genes were isolated from a suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH) cDNA library of Ginkgo biloba leaves treated with cold stress. Based on the molecular weight, the three genes were designated GbHSP16.
