Article Synopsis
  • The UiO-OH@Tb probe is a fluorescent sensor made from a zirconium-based metal-organic framework (MOF) that uses a hydrothermal process for synthesis and is designed to detect malachite green (MG) through fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET).
  • As the concentration of MG increases, the probe changes color from lime green to blue, while a simpler MOF variant (UiO-OH) only shows blue fluorescence quenching, demonstrating the enhanced performance of the composite probe.
  • The UiO-OH@Tb probe has a very low detection limit of 0.19 μM for MG, making it significantly more sensitive than the monometallic version,

The study investigates a bimetallic organic framework (Zn/Eu-MOF) based fluorescent probe for visual detection of ofloxacin (OFL) in pork, beef and fish. The developed sensing probe recognizes OFL through internal filtration and cation-π interaction between OFL and Zn/Eu-MOF, resulting in a distinct color change from orange-red to light green. The content of OFL can be determined through RGB analysis by a mobile-phone.
