Mechanisms of the Jian Pi Tiao Gan Yin in the treatment of simple obesity revealed by network pharmacology.

Background: This study sought to examine the mechanism of the Jian Pi Tiao Gan Yin in the treatment of obesity by network pharmacology.

Methods: The active components and corresponding targets of the Jian Pi Tiao Gan Yin were identified using the traditional Chinese medicine systems pharmacology database and analysis platform, and the obesity-related targets were acquired from the Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man database. The drug and disease targets were also identified.

Experimental study on repair of the facial nerve with Schwann cells transfected with GDNF genes and PLGA conduits.

Conclusions: Schwann cells transfected by GDNF genes + PLGA were superior to Schwann cells + PLGA and direct anastomesis. This is a new and effective strategy for repair of facial nerve defects.

Objective: To examine the biocompatibility of polylactic/glycolic acid (PLGA) and Schwann cells.

Method: Schwann cells were harvested from rat brachial and sciatic nerves. Schwann cells were cultured with PLGA, observed by phase-contrast microscopy and electron microscopy.

[Repair of facial nerve with bioactive artificial nerve conduit: experiment with rats].

Objective: To evaluate the effect of bioactive artificial nerve conduits in the repair of facial nerve defects.

Methods: Schwann cells (SC) were collected from the sciatic nerve and brachial plexus of a newborn SD rat, cultured, transfected with the plasmid pcDNA3. 1 (+)/GDNF containing glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor gene, digested by pancreatin to make mixture of cell suspension to be injected into poly (L-lactic-co-glycolic acid) conduits.

[The perioperative treatment of hypopharyngeal carcinoma with cervical esophageal invasion].

Objective: To present our experiences of perioperative therapy on 7 patients suffered from hypopharyngeal carcinoma with cervical esophageal invasion.

Method: Among the 7 patients, 6 patients had unilateral functional neck dissection, total laryngoesophagectomy and reconstruction with gastric pulling-up. One patient had gastrectomy, reconstruction with colonic pulling-up as well as radical neck dissection, total laryngoesophagectomy.
