Lakes are vital sources of drinking water and essential habitats for humans and various other living organisms. However, many lakes face organic pollution due to anthropogenic disturbance and climatic influence, and the spatiotemporal changes of organic pollution in lakes over a large area are still unclear. Based on three monitoring datasets of chemical oxygen demand (COD) in 390 lakes, this study demonstrated the apparent spatiotemporal differences of organic pollution in lakes during the 1980s-2010s and the effects of water eutrophication and salinization.

This open-label, single-arm, phase 2 trial evaluated the efficacy and safety of neoadjuvant sintilimab combined with anlotinib and chemotherapy, followed by adjuvant sintilimab, for resectable NSCLC. Forty-five patients received anlotinib (10 mg, QD, PO, days 1-14), sintilimab (200 mg, day 1), and platinum-based chemotherapy of each three-week cycle for 3 cycles, followed by surgery within 4-6 weeks. Adjuvant sintilimab (200 mg) was administered every 3 weeks.

Water quality and the carbon cycle in lakes are strongly related to the concentration of dissolved organic carbon (DOC). Several regional algorithms have been proposed to remotely retrieve lake DOC concentration at a regional scale, but further efforts are needed to reliably retrieve DOC concentration over a large area. Based on bio-optical measurements from 55 lakes across China, this study investigates feasible satellite algorithms for retrieving DOC concentrations from OLCI/Sentinel-3 imagery.

Previous studies typically assumed a constant total organic carbon (OC) storage in the lake water column, neglecting its significant variability within a changing world. Based on extensive field data and satellite monitoring techniques, we demonstrate considerable spatiotemporal variability in OC concentration and storage for 24,366 Chinese lakes during 1984-2023. Here we show that dissolved OC concentration is high in northwest saline lakes and particulate OC concentration is high in southeast eutrophic lakes.

This research evaluated a microalgae consortium (MC) in a pilot-scale tubular photobioreactor for municipal wastewater (MWW) treatment, compared with an aeration column photobioreactor. Transitioning from suspended MC to a microalgae-microbial biofilm (MMBF) maintained treatment performance despite increasing influent from 50 L to 150 L in a 260 L system. Carbon and nitrogen removal were effective, but phosphorus removal varied due to biofilm shading and the absence of phosphorus-accumulating organisms.
