Acentric crystalline materials are the cornerstone of numerous cutting-edge technologies and have been highly sought-after, but they are difficult to construct controllably. Herein, by introducing a new p-block element to break the symmetrical environment of the d transition metal in the centric matrix TiTeO, a novel acentric tellurite sulfate, namely Ti(TeO)(SO), was successfully constructed. In its structure, two types of p-block element-centered oxo-anionic groups, [TeO] and [SO], endow [TiO] with an out-of-center distortion along the local C[111] direction, which is rare in titanium oxides containing a lone-pair cation.

As nonlinear optical (NLO) crystals, sulfates have the superiority of transparency for ultraviolet (UV) light, but they are often troubled by small nonlinear coefficients and birefringence owing to the high symmetry of the [SO] group. By introducing two neutral diethylenetriamine (DETA) molecules to replace the six coordinated water molecules of the [Zn(HO)] complex cation in [Zn(HO)](SO)(HO), a new sulfate with an acentric structure, namely, [Zn(DETA)](SO)(HO), has been designed and synthesized. Structural investigation reveals that the coordination modification of Zn ion tremendously enhances its intraoctahedral distortion.

Microbial metabolism is an important driving force for the elimination of 4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid residues in the environment. The α-Ketoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase (TfdA) or 2,4-D oxygenase (CadAB) catalyzes the cleavage of the aryl ether bond of 4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid to 4-chlorophenol, which is one of the important pathways for the initial metabolism of 4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid by microorganisms. However, strain Cupriavidus sp.

Malignant tumors including gastric cancer (GC) are the leading cause of deaths among reproductive women. Physiological morning sickness can mask the clinical manifestations of GC, whereas the clinical presence of metastatic tumors in the abdominal cavity may be easily mistaken for abdominal swelling caused by fetal growth. Pregnancy and delivery processes in young females could accelerate the growth of GC, leading to its rapid development and grave prognosis.

Magnesium is one of the essential nutrients for plant growth, and plays a pivotal role in plant development and metabolism. Soil magnesium deficiency is evident in citrus production, which ultimately leads to failure of normal plant growth and development, as well as decreased productivity. Citrus is mainly propagated by grafting, so it is necessary to fully understand the different regulatory mechanisms of rootstock and scion response to magnesium deficiency.

Six terpyridine‑nickel complexes 1-6 were formed by the coordination of 4'-(4-R-phenyl)-2,2':6',2″-terpyridine (R = hydroxyl (L), methoxyl (L), methylsulfonyl (L), fluoro (L), bromo (L), iodo (L)) derivatives to nickel nitrate. The compositions and structures of these complexes were analyzed by Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), elemental analyses, electrospray ionization mass spectra (ESI-MS), solid-state ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, and single crystal X-ray diffraction (1, 2 and 4) studies. In vitro anticancer cell proliferation experiments against SiHa (human cervical squamous cancer cell line) cells, Bel-7402 (human hepatoma cancer cell line), Eca-109 (human esophageal cancer cell line) and HL-7702 (human normal hepatocyte cell line) indicate that they have more excellent anti-proliferation effects than the cis-platin against Siha cells, Bel-7402 cells and Eca-109 cells.

Background: Endoscopic ultrasound-guided biliary drainage using electrocautery-enhanced (ECE) delivery of lumen-apposing metal stent (LAMS) is gradually being recognized as a viable palliative technique for malignant biliary obstruction after endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) failure. However, most of the studies that have assessed its efficacy and safety were small and heterogeneous. Prior meta-analyses of six or fewer studies that were published 2 years ago were therefore underpowered to yield convincing evidence.

Exploring feasible tactics to induce the formation of non-centrosymmetric (NCS) structures, especially from centrosymmetric (CS) structures, is essential for the development of nonlinear optical crystals with more potential. An NCS alkali metal-containing molybdenum iodate hydrate, namely, NaMoO(IO)(HO), was designed based on the CS matrix NaMoO(IO) introducing a water molecule into the structure. The introduction of one crystalline water molecule results in the rearrangement of Λ-shaped -[MoO(IO)] units, and the proper array of the -[MoO(IO)] units in NaMoO(IO)(HO) results in its strong SHG response of 4.
