The male reproductive impairment caused by environmental estrogens (EEs) stands as a pivotal research area in environmental toxicology. Alpha2-macroglobulin (A2M) emerges as a promising molecule capable of counteracting oxidative stress induced by EEs. This study conducted exposure experiments spanning PND1 to PND56 employing ICR mice, aiming to delve into the expression patterns of A2M and its modulated IL-6 in the testicular tissue of mice subsequent to diethylstilbestrol (DES) and benzophenone (BP) exposure, while elucidating the pivotal role of ERs in this intricate process.

Tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) is one of the brominated flame retardants (BFRs) widely used in industry, which has a broad toxic effect on organisms. However, there is still limited research on the neurotoxic mechanism of TBBPA. Using mouse hippocampal neurons (HT22) cells, the toxicity of TBBPA was evaluated, especially focusing on its alteration on the key molecules in FAM171A2-GRN-NF-κB signaling pathway.

  • - Yoga is effective in treating binge eating disorder (BED), with significant improvements in binge eating scale scores and physical fitness metrics like maximal oxygen consumption from pre-to-post intervention.
  • - High-intensity interval training (HIIT), while successful in enhancing physical fitness and body composition, does not improve BED symptoms as seen in the yoga group.
  • - Both HIIT and yoga groups showed better fitness levels compared to a control group, but yoga led to significantly lower binge eating scores, highlighting its particular benefit for BED.

Introduction: We aim to evaluate the efficacy and safety of pioglitazone/metformin fixed-dose combination (FDC) versus uptitrated metformin in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) without adequate glycemic control.

Methods: A total of 304 patients were recruited from 15 hospitals in China and randomly assigned (1:1) to the test group (pioglitazone/metformin FDC, 15/500 mg) or the control group (uptitrated metformin, 2000-2500 mg/day). The primary endpoint was the proportion of patients with glycated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) ≤ 6.

The genus Valeriana is used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat nervous disorders, sleep disorders, epilepsy and skin diseases. A large number of sesquiterpenoids from this genus have been found to exhibit anti-inflammatory, antiproliferative, anti-influenza virus and neuroprotective activities. In order to discover more sesquiterpenoids with structural diversity and bioactivity from Valeriana plants, fifteen sesquiterpenoids, including ten undescribed ones, valernaenes A-J (1, 5-7, 9-11 and 13-15), were isolated from the roots and rhizomes of Valeriana officinalis var.

  • Swertia Mussotii is traditionally used to treat conditions like fever and pain, but the exact mechanism of how it works is not fully understood.
  • This study focuses on a specific active fraction, iridoid and xanthone glycoside (IXG), examining its effects on animal models of calculous cholecystitis and identifying key compounds within IXG.
  • Results showed that IXG significantly reduced certain biomarkers (like bilirubin and COX2 levels), alleviated symptoms of calculous cholecystitis, and worked by targeting COX2 to suppress pain and inflammation.

Background: Cognitive dysfunction is the main manifestation of central neuropathy. Although cognitive impairments tend to be overlooked in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM), there is a growing body of evidence linking DM to cognitive dysfunction. Hyperglycemia is closely related to neurological abnormalities, while often disregarded in clinical practice.

Background: Ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy is a reliable diagnostic procedure for prostate cancer diagnosis with minimal procedure-related trauma. However, complications, such as massive rectal bleeding may occur after the puncture. We hypothesized that using a transrectal resectoscope could help treat massive rectal bleeding after transrectal prostate punctures.

The colchicine site of β-tubulin has been proven to be essential binding sites of microtubule polymerization inhibitors. Recent studies implied that GTP pocket of α-tubulin adjacent to colchicine sites is a potential binding site for developing tubulin polymerization inhibitors. However, the structural basis for which type of structural fragments was more beneficial for enhancing the affinity of α-tubulin is still unclear.

Diaphragm dysfunction (DD) can be classified as mild, resulting in diaphragmatic weakness, or severe, resulting in diaphragmatic paralysis. Various factors such as prolonged mechanical ventilation, surgical trauma, and inflammation can cause diaphragmatic injury, leading to negative outcomes for patients, including extended bed rest and increased risk of pulmonary complications. Therefore, it is crucial to protect and monitor diaphragmatic function.

In this study, we sought to quantify the effect of planting structure change on fertilizer input and environmental cost in Chongqing and develop scientific and rational strategies for chemical fertilizer reduction. Based on the crop fertilizer quota standard and large sample farmer survey data under the medium productivity level in Chongqing, we evaluated and analyzed the application reduction potential and environmental benefits of fertilizer with the difference method and life cycle assessment. The results showed that:① since Chongqing became a municipality directly under the central government (1997), Chongqing crop planting structure had greatly changed, and the proportion of food crop (rice, corn, wheat, bean, and potato) decreased by 21%.
