Cytochrome P450 (CYP) epoxygenases metabolize arachidonic acid (AA) into biologically active epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs), forming a pivotal metabolic pathway (AA-CYP-EETs-soluble epoxide hydrolase-dihydroxyeicosatrienoic acids) implicated in the progression of various disorders. Inflammation is a key contributor to the onset and progression of numerous systemic diseases, and EETs play a significant role in mitigating inflammation. Extensive research highlights the cardiovascular protective effects of EETs, which include vasodilation, anti-hypertensive, and anti-atherosclerotic properties.

Background: Metabolic abnormalities are considered to play a key regulatory role in vascular remodeling of pulmonary arterial hypertension. However, to date, there is a paucity of research documenting the changes in metabolome profiles within the supernatants of pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells (PASMC) during their transition from a contractile to a synthetic phenotype.

Methods: CCK-8 and Edu staining assays were used to evaluate the cell viability and proliferation of human PASMCs.

Introduction: The accuracy of surface ECG algorithms for predicting the origin of outflow tract ventricular arrhythmias (OT-VAs) might be questioned. Intracardiac electrograms recorded at anatomic landmarks could provide new predictive insights. We aim to evaluate the efficacy of a novel criterion utilizing the activation pattern of the coronary sinus (CS) in localizing OT-VAs, including VAs originating from the right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT), endocardial left ventricular outflow tract (Endo-LVOT), and epicardial left ventricular outflow tract (Epi-LVOT).

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigated whether SGLT2 inhibitors can reduce the occurrence of atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients with cardiometabolic diseases, finding inconclusive results.
  • A comprehensive review of 46 randomized, placebo-controlled trials involving over 101,000 patients showed no significant risk reduction for AF with SGLT2 inhibitors, despite a slight favorable trend.
  • The results were consistent across different types and doses of SGLT2 inhibitors and across varied patient groups, concluding that these medications do not lower AF occurrence risk among those with cardiometabolic issues.

Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a severe cardiopulmonary vascular disease characterized by progressive pulmonary artery pressure elevation, increased pulmonary vascular resistance and ultimately right heart failure. Studies have demonstrated the involvement of multiple immune cells in the development of PAH in patients with PAH and in experimental PAH. Among them, macrophages, as the predominant inflammatory cells infiltrating around PAH lesions, play a crucial role in exacerbating pulmonary vascular remodeling in PAH.

The catalyst in the oxygen electrode is the core component of the aqueous metal-air battery, which plays a vital role in the determination of the open circuit potential, energy density, and cycle life of the battery. For rechargeable aqueous metal-air batteries, the catalyst should have both good oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalytic performance. Compared with precious metal catalysts, non-precious metal materials have more advantages in terms of abundant resource reserves and low prices.
